Inspired by ServiceNodes, we'll need to take a different route for this year's blockchain2020 event. Perhaps next year ServiceNodes can feature prominently.
How were you originally going to integrate Service Nodes into the event?
The idea for the halving event came out of Slack discussions, I think around the summer last year. I can check the logs to confirm.
One of the central concepts behind ServiceNodes is the creation of a long term funding mechanism for those running bitcoin full nodes, especially after this next halving event.
The crypto scene is still fragile and if bitcoin begins to fail because of funding issues related to a drop in Coinbase rewards, it would set back all crypto projects by a factor of several years.
So the halving event was conceived around bitcoin halving and showing potential ways to fund bitcoins future using a model any project could develop, ServiceNodes being one of the first sustainable funding mechanisms focused on helping Bitcoin.
You can see with the draft agenda that this was a central theme
http://blockchain2020.comIt would be difficult to promote the event on the basis we agreed last year if we can't showcase ServiceNodes. I've left promotions to the very last minute, and now we either have to push ahead and keep fingers crossed something will be available to show or change tact for this year. I think it's safer to change tact.
