The San Antonio Spurs seem to be trying to make some news suddenly. They are pitching themselves as having the best roster opportunities in the NBA going forward and are trying to land Giannis in a deal that will make them a powerhouse. They will have a good pitch to make no doubt. No state tax, lots of good young talent, a ton of salary cap space going forward...
Not all positive news though. Coach Gregg Popovich has announced (officially?) his retirement from coaching and remain in the back office. End of an era, but he's sticking with the team.
The Spurs have all the assets that they need to offer for the Bucks, but the question is, will the Spurs' management try to ruin Wembanyama's career because we know that they drafted Wemby because they want to build a team around him.
Getting Giannis might be good for the team, but that will ruin Wemby's career because they're playing in the same position. Instead of getting Giannis, it would be better for me to either develop their current players, get wing defenders, or get another all-star beside Wemby and Fox. I hope that they will not get or try to approach Giannis and will just focus on building a team around Wemby.
Based on what I saw on Facebook, it seems like Coach Pop will retire as their head coach, and instead, he will be the Team's President. Their current interim head coach is being hired as their new head coach. Now the question is, will that be a better decision for the team, or is it better to get another coach like Michael Malone or Taylor Jenkins, or maybe Mike Budenholzer.
