I would think Paypal would like to be part of bitcoin before it is too late, they will figure a way to integrate it into their payment system and bringing this guy on board is a step in the right direction.
Who knows they might be looking at sidestepping bitcoin and creating their own alternative, but it would make more sense for them to move into bitcoin early to get a piece of the pie and we are still early in the bitcoin era.
Maybe most of PayPal's efforts will be in vain.
They're trying to apply their old hat methodologies to Bitcoin, but it just isn't going to fly.
Maybe they're intelligent enough to build some form of a product or service on top of the Blockchain, rather than just doing the thing that everyone else with half a brain has
already done - which is the same old, same old "integration of bitcoin payments."
What these guy's don't understand is that they are the same breed of middlemen that Bitcoin was designed to disrupt, and Bitcoin doesn't need some third pary, intermediary payment transmission system for it to work. I can easily send BTC payments to anyone, worldwide, without having PayPal deduct their highly inflated fees.
We are in the age of applications as opposed to the oversized, clunky service providing corporations of yesteryear. And bitcoin represents the age of 'decentralised' applications. PayPal has an ethos that is just not compatible with this new world that has been enabled due to Blockchain tech
Maybe they'll be forced to find this out the hard way
Very good post I totally agree with.
I absolutely see no reason why I should use a Paypal created service on top of the Bitcoin Blockchain.I just use Bitcoin direct and that's it.
But maybe Xapo and Paypal try to figure out something completely different.Maybe just something blockchain without Bitcoin related.
