After we received email from user who accidenally deleted his wallet after reinstalling of the Windows we decided to improve our wallet with protection from such situations because we try to listen to our users.

As you may know, Karbo wallets have two keys - private spend key and private view key from which 2 public keys are generated and form an address. That's why our address is so long. Both these private keys were generated independently by default thus creating nondeterministic wallets.

New client sofware versions will be creating deterministic wallets similar to Monero. I.e. will randomly generate only first private spend key. The  private view key will be generated from first one. Private key can be represented in the form of mnemonic phrase, which user has to write down and can later restore his wallet from paper.

Not to be confused with classic paperwallet - there is also phrase, but that phrase is for restoring paperwallet (must be entered on site not in wallet). Paper wallets can be imported into clients as usually - by importing of private keys.

No. Existing old wallet don't have mnemonic seeds because their two keys are derived independently.
Only new deterministic wallets will have seed. You can still create old-fashioned nondeterministic wallets via special menu option.

You see, new wallets will have just one key randomly generated key which can be represented as mnemonic seed, the other one - private view key - will be derived from seed.

To recreate that I must know exactly what you did. For me client does create new deterministic wallets and shows seed even if ordinary wallet was open when I selected Create wallet in menu. Maybe you created nondeterministic wallet i.e.  olf-fashioned which indeed doesn't have seed?

What does it mean?
You need to point it filenames. I am not sure what are you doing here too  I really need to understand what are you doing to prevent others especially dumb rookies do the same. It works perfectly for me, but it may be because I know procedure

When you've generated your paperwallet there was red title Private Key. Put this long string into corresponding field in wallet client:




There is little button with three dots. Use it to point to place where you want to save your wallet file and give it some name
