    PayPal does allow you to have an account without a bank account attached to it and you could use one of the Bitcoin converter sites to exchange your Bitcoins into a PayPal balance and use this to pay for your food. But be careful because some businesses require that the customers are using verified PayPal accounts probably for protection purposes. Better to find out if they do require a verified account before paying. Another way of approaching this is to get a Neteller account and after funding it with Bitcoin to use their free virtual debit cards to do the transactions.

    Paypal have more limitations with unverified account so its important to get paypal account verified. And for verification paypal needs Bank account. Even still can use for making payment via debit card under limitations.

    Or can use service that offers debit card to load with bitcoins. This can help you access paypal by linking debit card for payments.

    Do not flame me for saying this, but if we continue finding workarounds for these problems, merchants will not need to receive Bitcoin directly. We do not want to rely on 3rd party services to be able to

    use Bitcoin. I had the same problem with a local pub, and I worked at them for weeks... they now accept BTC as payment and in reward, I arrange Bitcoin meetups at their place. We have to go the

    extra mile to get what we want, but workarounds should be our last resort.  Roll Eyes

    Coinbase just released something on their website that says you can now use your debit card and credit card to buy bitcoins from them.
    Is this new? I just got that message popup for the first time i have seen this message before.

    My goal is on the spending side. To show that you can drop your bank, get paid only in bitcoins and be able to live on that. I did find another way to buy my groceries online with bitcoins but this one would be a bit more convenient.

    I will contact them directly though to see if they can look into it though.

    If people are able to live on bitcoins, then more stores will understand that this is a typical payment method and then they will start providing it as an option. Chicken and egg thing...unless you're a business, this is the way you can push forward your side of the equation.

    I'm assuming you're in US right now too? If so, the probably only more direct way is to ask them if that certain store accepts debit cards as payment and if they do, then you can use bitcoin debit card. I'm pretty sure that it would work since the value of bitcoin will be paid to them in cash or something like that.

    I think Coinbase now also provide the facility that they also support simultaneous bitcoin and paypal and I think this is a breakthrough of Coinbase or for bitcoin itself. yeah i think the facilities that will help bitcoin and the deployment

    You can create a PayPal account without a bank accounts this may be the easiest option for you. Just be careful as non verified Paypal accounts have certain limits on what you can spend each month, you need to make sure that your total spending per month does not exceed these limits.

    You don't need to link your bank account, adding a credit card is enough to obtain a verified PayPal. But I guess that's not an option either if op wants to be rid of everything to do with banks. A Bitcoin debit card is probably your only option at this point. It wouldn't hurt to send them feedback via their website suggesting to add Bitcoin as a payment method.

    Try a bitcoin debit card. They're not actual "bitcoin debit cards", where your bitcoin value is converted live into Fiat, but more like a platform where you sell your bitcoin for Fiat and you spend the fiat. There's no other way

    Well it's always worth a try to ask if they would consider accepting Bitcoin in the future.

    But isn't it also possible to pay with a debit card through Paypal without actually having an account, I know it's possible with credit cards, so I would think it's also possible with a debit card, although I haven't tried this myself.

    Or is that something that the merchant has to allow?
