    The internet is a funny place to find out hidden biz opportunities or do i say existing problema,request of a specific product/service but, no ONE is satisfying these need's


    It's too early to post photo's  or snapshot to show proof of these niches .

    Now, i see why some people say that the emergement of bitcoin is a direct threat to paypal & ebay. Although, most of us here will not see it from this perspective. But, believe me it's true.And, ebay/paypal knows about this.

    I have noticed random researches consistently on google of people who are either fedup with the sensitivity of ebay & paypal which happens to be the #1 platform for people who enjoy online shopping.

    I decided to split these into three group:

    The 1st group: those who are fedup of selling on ebay due to their sensitivity leaving seller's with little or no freedom to control their fund. These set of people are completely fed-up and would not have anything to do with ebay/paypal.As such they are desperately looking for an alternative.

    The 2nd group : are fedup but, they have no choice. so, they occasional go back to ebay when they are in need of some buck.

    The 3rd group : these set of people are fedup but, since there no verifiable platform like ebay. Although, there are lot of other site similar to ebay but, cannot be a substitute. They choose to remain on ebay, accept the rules in other to cope up with them BUT, they'll not hesitate moving out completely if, a good substitute emerges.


    NOTE : please let know your own personal opinion about selling or buying on ebay when posting comment.

    eBay - no Sellers protection.
    Bitcoin marketplace - no Buyers protection.
    Bitcoin commerce requires the services of an escrow.
    Bitcoin is not mainstream.
    eBay - wide range of available products.
    Bitcoin marketplace - reselling hand-made items and mostly 2nd hand shit.
     
    Personally I do almost all of my shopping on Amazon with a debit card. For digital stuff I prefer PayPal. Bitcoin is not suitable for shopping only for sending money to friends and family but that is just me. There are even apps that can move fiat funds free of charge  contrary to Bitcoin which in its current state requires too much in fees. My 2 cents.

    It is true that a number of people are leaving ebay and amazon and the reason is not purely because of bitcoin. The main reason why there is a decrease in their sales is due to the growing number of merchants on the social media that are selling different kind of products online. But somehow bitcoins existence has made this kind of business grow faster. Right now almost or mostly of merchants in social media are using bitcoin as a mode of payment, no wonder paypal, ebay and amazon are starting to lose their grip on their clients.

    I guess this is true on some points. The problem is that this view is only looking at the view of a seller on amazon. Indeed they are not happy with amazon and paypal on how these companies are handling their funds, but I don't think bitcoins will overtake the use of amazon and paypal. Also, the problem with this is that buyers are not protected in bitcoins as much as in paypal and amazon. I don't think escrow does protect anyone anyway.

    I still don't know any similar platform that only operates on bitcoins but we'll probably get there once the thorny issue of buyer's protection is resolved. For now though, that many people are starting to accept bitcoins as payment is a good start. For example on my local exchange I see a lot of sites accepting btc and you can now do more with it, from buying stuff from etsy to paying for domain name.

    You can say this about ANY payment option that has centralized control, because each of them have their own rules and regulations {ToS} to

    which you have to adhere to or they will close or block your account. Our task is to find these "disgruntled" users and turn them into Bitcoiners.

    We have to seize this opportunity to concentrate on the flaws of the competitor or we will never move forward.  Wink Bitcoin open doors where

    Sounds a bit like the situation with bitcoin. It is currently number one. More and more people are more and more unsatisfied with it and the development. But the alternatives are not better or have not enough users yet to be interesting. Some people do not want to have to try out all alternatives to see if there is something they could use. Some are just afraid the alternatives are not as safe as Bitcoin and compromise staying while unhappy.
    I personally use ebay only if i have to, but i do not like it. But sometimes only they have what i need or at a reasonable price. So my process is to first check other ways and then go for ebay if necessary.

    The biggest problem with either option is always that the buyer or the seller is taking the risk. Escrow is too time consuming and possibly expensive for small transactions.

    As a buyer, I would always use eBay and Paypal over bitcoin, simply because it protects me, the buyer. As a seller, I would love a bitcoin marketplace. It would turn into an even bigger reputation hoarding than the current options already are (sellers on ebay offering refunds/extras to remove negative feedback etc).

    Unless we will come up with bitcoin powered trading platform offering buyer&seller protection until then Bitcoin will be always a second choice.
    Customers will simply chose simplicity of a PayPal/Credit Card, some centralized platform which accepted Bitcoin in the past are now no longer continuing to support it.
    Humble Bundle comes to mind, you can even use Amazon Payments to buy it, but not Bitcoin, not anymore.

    Is there no other site that can compete ebay but will escrow everything for buyers and sellers?
    I though Openbazar will somehow be a huge success where we get to do all the buy and sell stuff there. Maybe something like Amazon for BTC users. I created an account and installed the system already and have found no stores near my area. If the platform can be used by a lot of use I think it could work.

    The biggest threat to PayPal is scammy PayPal itself. not only is the company dishonest ( I have personal experience of this), but they seem to support thieves and dishonest buyers in preference to honest sellers. Couple this with the fact that it takes six months to confirm a PP payment, and I think it's time they were dropped as a payment option.

    Bitcoin is intelligent money, and I'm sure we can develop some mechanisms for buyer protection, that is if we can escape from the faucet/gambling bias that seems to be in Bitcoin use.

    You're not the only one. I have been scam through a dispute by someone who I  constantly transact with. All the transactions were disputed which the total amount was about  $1600.
    The webmasters forum is the worst thing to make transaction with since you don't know who you talked to because they all are buying paypal accounts as well. Its best to just used the escrowing sites like upwork and the likes for they hold the funds for you. I've managed to track them but its no use when they are from the other 3rd world country.

    I find Bitcoin convenient for doing my online purchases. The fees are not very high, I rarely pay more than 10 cents to move a transaction and I never had any problem.

    What you mentioned is one of the few reasons why people are turning away from paypal and ebay. Paypal and ebay are very strict and transactions are complicated sometimes. They are legit and good sites but the features of bitcoin is more convenient and easy to use compared to those sites. Thus when paypal and ebay will integrate bitcoin we already know the answer, if they will not integrate bitcoin sooner or later they will go bankrupt.

    I am a domain name reseller and till a few years ago I was using PayPal as first payment priority for accepting payments for my deals (even though having serious restrictions in using PayPal in my country), but since I am in bitcoin, I didn't even bother to log in my PayPal account. I believe that being a fiat service provider they are liable to follow the rules and regulations of the government and on the other hand, we are enjoying complete freedom with cryptocurrencies. I thin freedom is what makes me to choose between two of them.

    Amazon owns a warehouse where the seller will need to send the items for storage which means Amazon gets to wrap and send the package to the buyer themselves. They act as escrow for both buyer and seller.  There is something like this in bitcoin but they only accept digital products and its going to be very hard job for them considering the amount of hassles and possibilities of fraud still. Most of these bitcoin merchants may have thought of it but figured its not worth their time. I don't see this to be an undiscovered hidden niche but just a never chartered niche.
