@ terrahash- BKK is busy and did not get the chance to test fully populated board from the last revision. But did you have this chance , what are the results ?

The serial # is different from the USB Product ID I received from Microchip. That is used for identifying the board at the USB level and would be the same on all K16/K1 boards. The 0xdeadbeef serial# should be replaced by an actual serial# during production. I'll be adding a ktest command that will enable setting serial# in some automated fashion for production. The only functional difference it makes is for enumeration of chained boards, which is not operational yet.

White is nice... shade color whatever.

In art class they taught us that an item that is "pure white" is reflecting the entire visible light spectrum back at the viewer in equal amounts. We see color when the item absorbs certain spectrum ranges instead of reflecting them. A "shade" of white is therefore an object that reflects back slightly LESS than the entire visible spectrum. The color of light being absorbed determines the color perceived by the viewer.

So, "Nice choice of light spectrum to reflect back off of those PCBs". ROFL

I am planning to assemble my own K1 board when Bkkcoins sends out the PCB's.. Also planing to build two K16s as well but have not done the BOM ordering for those boards yet.. I will be doing that later tonight or tomorrow.

I have a total of $7.29 with $5 standard US mail.  Now there are a few components on the K1 that I have found out of stock and are on back order.. I was able to find most of the parts on digikey as listed..

If anyone knows a place to order the back ordered Capacitor.. I think the Bead Choke will ship and not sure about the 20V to 30V difference on the BOM and Schottky Diode on mouser.

I will be checking the product availability on the 300+ K16 components shortly.

I think most of us are just waiting on Avalon.. or perhaps looking at burnin who is working on bitfury boards.. as well as an Australian developer who created a "drillbit" system based on what was a cheap 5Ghash/s chip a week ago.  Since then I believe bitfury has increased their prices and now it will be hard to get the Australian devs price again.

I am pretty sure Bkkcoins is also a small scale DIY developer like all of us.  He usually orders most of his small parts from the USA since he lives in Thailand and finds it cheaper to do so.  He had mentioned creating a kit for the boards since you save money to buy from mouser or digikey in bulk.. but since then he has probably not had the time or is frustrated with the rest of us waiting on ASIC chips.  

That is exactly what I am hoping for... If my Avalon chips never show up at least it was a cool project and I learned a lot about SMT.  It would be nice if he created a DIY kit for the components.. kind of a hassle as some parts seem out of stock.  Anyway best of luck to everybody involved in open source ASIC dev!
