1 reason why Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency because Bitcoin is the first digital asset that was created, it proved itself due the course of time and now it is in 2000$+ , when it was new in the internet the price of this is only cents but because of people who trusted Bitcoin and invested a lot with it, the price change through the time the longer it stay alives the price become more high.

First of all, because it was the one who made the category of "cryptocurrency" and is maintaining in the heads of the flock, offering better over all functionality and security than newer (innovative) but more liable in security like Ethereum.
Beside, more than 90% of the media coverage is directed towards it, because of this popularity, and hence it gains even more popularity and the cycle continue giving it a new crowd of active users.

Even now there is high chance of the rising of the price of bitcoin as most of the people say that bitcoin is like the internet of 1990's. So still its not too late to get in te line of te potential gains by bitcoin.

I think the reason why Bitcoin is popular is because of its high value and it is easy to earn. Those people who just started Bitcoin was paid by just posting on a certain topic that related on Bitcoin. Yes, you are right. Bitcoin was the very first cryptocurrency ever made. And also it is the first ever decentralized form of currency to be introduced. It does not go through any financial institution. Which means that banks cannot control our money that is why people got interested in bitcoin. Which I think is the reason why bitcoin os really famous. And just like any other normal products in the market, people tend to imitate or make their own version of the product especially if they saw its potential and that they could earn from it a lot.
