It's actually way worse than all that. Not only did they take full advantage of their monopoly on the ASIC market through selling the servers, They mined the everloving shit out of them before releasing them for sale. That guy Cryptocrane did a video of unpacking his D3 and the bastard had the dust from the mining farm all over it still!! They didn't even bother to clean it off. They ran the 16nm technology while the profits were fat and then dumped them all over the street. I'm sure they will be mining 7nm tech as soon as they can and we won't be able to buy it until they're done milking the teet.
While there isn't definitive proof of that -- their facilities could be absolutely filthy, for all we know, after all, it IS China we're talking about -- they are only interested in it for the $$$, so that's entirely possible.
That said ...... I'd estimate at least 75% of the people who ordered D3s for themselves aren't in it for the benefit of the X11 blockchain.
There is plenty of "greed" to go around. After all, that's why miners mine.

I'm skeptical that they are assembling hardware in such a dusty environment. The dust was very visible on the intake side fan. Give it a look. I have no doubt that these miners are arriving with many hours of hashing on them.
i can say you are right sir.
i got a BTC miner, S9, arrived few days back. On the small sticker, it was marked 7 ie JULY. So from July until middle September, it was trashed as force labour to work in the filthy mine of Bitmain/Antpool.
Very visible scratches can be seen on the aluminium body, the fan and near the control board.
