Yea yesterday it was spiking from 12k to 30k almost instantly and back down after a while.   Someone was mining at 10gh+ solo.   

Signatum-QT.exe generated a debug.log with a filesize of about 500 megabyte filled with:

ERROR: ProcessBlock() : AcceptBlock FAILED
ERROR: CheckStake() : ProcessBlock, block not accepted
