For the short-term gain, wait for the dip, buy then, wait for the price to bounce back - sell.

For the long term holding, buy anytime, or better yet - do a cost averaging, buy a little regularly (i.e. every month).

The dip is when the best time to buy some Bitcoin. Just watch out for the price movement and you'll know what do I mean by that. As I am writing this response to your post, the price per Bitcoin is standing at $5,623 but there is a chance that it could go up a little bit to $5,700 anytime so what you should be watching for is when it would have a downward movement until it reaches $5,200 or lower...that can be the best time to buy your Bitcoin.

Now, having said that, if you are a risk taker and you are convinced that Bitcoin would soon make a big surge especially after the hard fork is finished then the best time to buy Bitcoin is anytime you have the budget for it. There are cases when people would be waiting for a dip that may never come for a longer time and by the time that it would they don't have the budget anymore.

it's impossible to predict the price, BTC are and will always be a rollercoaster depending on many things.
Incoming hardfork caused the price to rise due to people buying BTC in order to get more BTC gold, after the 25th of October there might be a price drop but it can
't be predicted 100%.
Like someone said, if you want to invest in a long term BTC relationship, buy some every month and hold, otherwise, if you want to trade you should study the market trend to "predict" the pump and dump in order to buy low and sell high.

I would like to advise the dollar-average investment strategy for beginners to get acquainted with the volatility.
During this period of investment, avoid investing when a drop is steeper than 20% over 24h period with the motive to reach rebound.

For long term you can buy in parts in dips as we are coming near to hard fork date i.e 25th october price is likely to go high and may be set new ATH. After 25th we can see some correction. So keep an eye on graphs and buy in parts.

I'm in it for the long term so I've started at a modest price and will wait and see how it goes over the next few months. The I'm seeing what others are doing, if you want big rewards and fast, invest big but if you don't have the funds for that, then start low. Cryptocurrencies are here for a long time so you'll gain no matter how long it takes.

It is always the right time to buy bitcoins if you are thinking long-term, because bitcoin eventually is going to go up in price with the time passing, and if someone buy bitcoins today, they are surely going to be worth more in coming time if they can have patience and hold them till then.
