Nope, I just meant that "themed" coins are hit and miss with some communities. I thought the nerds of caching would like the GeoCoins, instead they cried, "confusing" and "keylogger." C'est la vie.
Ah, I follow.
I think it's just difficult in general to get the non-cryptocurrency community into crypto unless they can directly do something with the currency (i.e. if you could purchase star trek memorabilia with FederationCredits, it would be an easier sell to that kind of community). Plus it is difficult to setup requires a lot of trust in random executables downloaded from the internet, so I can definitely understand the trepidation.
That being said, GeoCoin could be amazing, if the currency could somehow be embedded into caches (and people understood how to use it). For example, if they find a cache, inside is a piece of paper with an url and special code that they could redeem for 50 GeoCoins, and then the next code to put into the cache. Definitely potential there.
In terms of Star Trek coins, I think 'credits' makes a lot of sense with how cryptocurrency is used. I think some well designed mobile apps showing credits and allowing instant transfer would make it feel like future money
