I think you should also change polls so only Members with merits can vote.. they should also be closed polls so people cannot see who is voting the same as now..

this should help clean up reputation a little bit and will give much more credit to the fewer polls that are started.. also we will see less votes against the DT members as the Pajeets wont have any merits to vote with..

As far as I know from reading this topic, merit points is locked after u achieved it, lets say you reach 1000 merit points and then some of your posts are deleted by mods, then your merit will stay at 1000.
I guess it applies too if you delete your own post, but i believe mods or admin will know if you delete it on your own then making the same post again to farm merit points by deceiving people. So, dont do that.

Oh forgot to mention that person B will get 1 Merit & 0.5 sMerit.

And where can I see how many sMerits available for me? There is only Merit information in the profile

There will be a shit load of "favoritism" from the collectibles section as a large % of us all socialize off forum..

I know this is all new and shiny and so people are going to play with it.. But giving merit to someone who's already legendary for a post they did 2-3 years ago? Really? If some good ol boys are going to use it to give ppl that don't need it even more merit, then what use is it for those that can actually use it? At the very least I would strongly suggest removing that as a possibility. In fact, since people are incapable of acting responsibly, I would suggest coming up with some scheme where a person has to spread it around to people with different ranks.

A thought just occurred to me which I'm sure occurred to the Admin crew before instilling this new merit system, but I'll ask it anyway to make sure it's covered.

You're over thinking it. Merit isn't worth something to the account holder once they've reached top status levels. Merit is a gift you can give to others to reward their contribution to this community.

It's like liking somebody's post you agree with or that's constructive. I saw I have 200 smerit and it expires if unused but it doesn't mention a date or anything. However, still I don't like this concept as it looks like the forum turned into some social media website where merits=likes. Glad that demerit is not possible else I wouldn't imagine what would be the state then.

I liked this new concept and it will certainly help to make this a  stronger community with less fluff. Some doubts regarding this :

1) Sending merits to another member will result in deduction from the merit of original poster ?

2) Do you have some protection to prevent buying and selling of sendable  merits ?

3) Can merit be given for thread responses also or is it only for new threads opened by  a member ?

I've wasted 21 sMerit on satoshi. I'm sorry. He's not even my friend, I just felt like he deserved it (In my defense, he isnt a legendary yet).
I've still got over 300 sMerlit left and I promise to use them more considered.
