Great question. MetaMask is indeed a hot wallet, which is considered to be less secure than a hardware wallet, but it stores your seed phrase encrypted and will also have hardware wallet support in the future.
To give you a more specific answer, we will support only MetaMask for v1.0 of our platform, but we are looking to implement other software/hardware systems into our future releases.
