Well op, I can probably say that you are not that active in reading news about bitcoins that much. The lightning network is what's new and is a pretty amazing idea that can really change how things work with bitcoins. In my opinion, this will really be the biggest leap of bitcoin and will really be the thing that can make bitcoins reach greater all time highs again. Although this may seem as a fix for the main problems of bitcoins for the mean time while there are still no better solutions that can be thought of, it undeniably is still an amazing fix for bitcoin and is surely enough to draw in a lot of traffic.

Of course, if you understand the technology, blockchain, etc., you can offer some unique idea, or even create your own coin. But otherwise, bitcoin has its own staff of highly professional specialists in the field of information technology, and I think they are working hard to improve bitcoin.

Partly I agree, Bitcoin hasn't done any significant innovation if we compared to altcoins, altcoins have done many significant roadmap and features. But I believe the lightning network is surely a huge leap forward for Bitcoin to solve the scalability issues. I'm sure its enough to make the investors feel confident yet again.

Indeed they are have their own interests about the whole thing and am thinking they are being bullish about the whole thing, they are too divided to implement a solution that we know we are going to fix sooner and later am sure when more investors join again, we are going to see high fees again.

This is new technology and It's still evolving. Now with Lightning Network it will be even better than before, with faster and cheaper transactions. And then it will not stop as technologies are always being improved. So, no worries from that side. The problem is governments regulating cryptocurrencies, although it's said to 'do no harm' with these regulations. Then maybe it will not be so decentralized and anonymous.

@Pooya87 Thanks for being so quick to point out the error of OP's post! SegWit was a huge deal achieved last year, and Lightning Network is well underway. But having all these innovations will be pretty pointless if services don't adopt them (yes, they finally are and even the slowpokes like Coinbase will be rolling SW out soon).

Scalability is always going to be an issue, but it is a good issue to have. Think about it. If Bitcoin never got the kind of use we have today, the network would never get so congested. That it has an issue is a nice problem to have. I'd love for the network to grow even more, to the point that even LN will need to improve.

Perhaps the request to all Bitcoin holders would be to be a bit more aware of what's going on with Bitcoin and help foster the innovation. Advocate the services you use to quickly take up SW and LN, for example.

Agree. 9 years should be enough to see bitcoin doing those things but we end up seeing many bitcoin forms that wants to take it's place like bitcoincash. I'm sure that this year would be like "Show me what you got" for the government to make it officially legit and end the scam accusations.

Advocacy! If you're a member of site or service that uses Bitcoin, encourage them to quickly upgrade to Segwit wallets. The majority of sites are still on legacy addresses. You don't have to force anyone to do it, but if enough users ask about it or even just talk about it, you bet the service owners will think more about it. As I understand, most are putting it off because of huge backlogs and unmanageable inputs, but with the mempool so low right now, it's the perfect time to consolidate wallets and just make one big move to Segwit. One site starts, second follows... domino effect.

I had predicted this would happen, surely someday there will be a new innovation that will drown Bitcoin, the world will continue to grow as well as digital currencies
