    With this system, the future of this forum is uncertain

    I present my account as an example
    I am a open "target" myself.
    Regardless if my posts are characterized as qualitative or not, i will never "earn" (wrong expression of the work "earn") enough merits to "grow up" as a forum member and establish, in a way, my place into this forum and help/discuss/express my opinions/trading and more... with other forum members. I will never get Merits because I cannot give them back in return Wink
    This is how the system works

    I am not a "famous" member.
    The term famous refers to, bounty managers, higher lever members, administrators-moderators, people offering services and some more...
    So, as i am not in the position of any of the above places (which seems that they get the highest % of merits regarding if their posts are quality or not!) I will NEVER and i mean never become a hero member, not even in 5-10 years

    In addition, my local forum will be weakening as the days pass.
    The members which are having the possibility to give merits are two (LOL).
    Indeed, the active members (which are also aware of the usage of the merit system) can be countable in one hand

    As the idea of stopping the junk and spam messages will be established with great success (from the *10,000 posts daily will remain *1,000), more things will also be neutralize, as for example, the announcements of new ICO's, bounties and probably advertisements, donations and more sources that offers payments to the forum itself and thereby to forum members  

    Steadily and as the time passes, this place will become a place for hero and legendary members to discuss by themselves...

    As time passes, the number of farmed accounts would decrease substantially. You shouldn't be here to get paid*. If that is your main aim, this forum isn't for you. From what I've gathered from your post, it seems like the rank is the only thing that matters to you. Hmm.

    * I'm never paid in Meta section nor have I really cared about getting paid or not.

    It's not. Most higher ranked accounts probably don't care about receiving merit. I don't. They're meaningless to me. I give them out to people who I think are making great contributions.

    Have you thought that maybe these "famous members" might just be making better posts? Also, why can't you or anyone else become a famous member? All of the so called famous members likely earned their status by being an active or helpful member of the community in some capacity. There's no reason why you can't become one of them eventually.

    I'm having this problem also. I try to add something to the community by adding quality posts and I've started a couple of threads but I don't seem to get any merit for it. I'm not concerned with it and you shouldn't be either. It would be nice to get some merit once in a while, but it isn't an end game.

    Making good post is what matter in this forum even without receiving merit. I think this is the best option that we can participate in order to establish ourselves as a good citizen here and who knows time will come that the revision for this merit system will be our great surprising moment. I believe the admin is fair in his leadership.

    C'mon, I'm an ordinary member here, reading, learning, trying to help, create things that I feel are missing here and that's all.
    It's that simple, most important here is to learn along the way.

    Think that way, what are you good at and how you can use it here in order the others to benefittime, knowledge,financially,etc/ from it?

    People who are only after the merit points are doomed to fail. So don't make this mistake. Take your time, read and learnt, think and let the merit flow .. Wink

    The main point is how one's posts are good quality or not, rather than s/he is famous or not.
    When the Merit system was introduced, I was a Jr. Member with 0 merit and I am sure I am not a famous member, but I've been trying to make good quality posts to help other members, earned some merits, and ranked up.
    Yes it requires some time, research, and polishing to make good quality posts, but they lead members forum more knowledgeable informative  Wink

    Quite the contrary. I've seen most of the merits going to people who are in the lower end of the rank spectrum as opposed to legendary etc. The main reason for that perception is because most of them either repeats what is being said or has subpar post quality.

    I am just writing my opinion about a new rule of a forum which i'm a member and this is because I would like it to continue it's contribution to the crypto world.
    Before entering this forum I only knew two words, Bitcoin & Ethereum. Today i know a lot more in depth...
    The cryptos has to do with profits, further of the idea what is behind them and that the future of the world will be based on blockchains.

    About your "Hmm", check my number of posts/ability to see if i am here for chasing profits (Posts: 99/Activity: 98)

    OP, I would have given you merit for your post(s) here, except for one thing:  they're posts bitching about how noobs like you are being treated unfairly by the merit systen.  Put that much effort into the rest of your output on bitcointalk and you won't have to worry.   You'll still have to be patient and expect that most of your posts won't get merit, so start working on the patience part and lock the thread.   We don't need another one about merit.

    I have already  mentioned the reason of my posts.
    I care about the luck of this forum and in specific in my local community. I will stay in forum no matter what and i won't care if my rank increased or not. The thing is that probably this system will discourage people, who want to go "upper" for many reasons.

    If this continues, probably will become a chain reaction.
    If new people stop posting and old members get bored, i will personally miss a lot of good and valuable information and knowledge

    I am saying again in exact words
    I am not asking merits for my account, i am worried about my local community!

    OP, I would have given you merit for your post(s) here, except for one thing:  they're posts bitching about how noobs like you are being treated unfairly by the merit systen.  Put that much effort into the rest of your output on bitcointalk and you won't have to worry.   You'll still have to be patient and expect that most of your posts won't get merit, so start working on the patience part and lock the thread.   We don't need another one about merit.

    I still don't get it. Why would your local community suddenly leave the forum after the introduction of merit? Why would anyone get discouraged because it takes longer to rank up? The rank doesn't mean anything! Some forums don't even have ranks and remain popular. You don't go to a forum to be awarded a gold medal for the most posts. You go there to share information. If you have nothing to share, you get no merit, that's all. If the members of your local community feel they need to be awarded for posting, send them here and we'll explain everything to them.
