If u don't want to choose staking pool then u can do solo staking  in which u must have minimum coins tostake and even u should keep ur wallet 24/7 on.., the system should be high-end and there should be proper current and internet supply which is difficult to do, so most of the people choose pool for staking

To my mind the best choice for you it's buy bitcoin and EOS. In long term it's the best choice which you can imagine, mb you can add Ethereum in your portfolio but I don't like this altcoin.
