Bitcoin was supposed to be used as a currency, not only a form of investment. However, it's been more successful as a form of investment, a "speculative asset".
Do you guys think that this can change in the long term ?
1st things 1st , bitcoin ain't a currency . It needs to be regulated by a government and backed by a safe heaven asset (silver/gold .. ) to be considered as a currency , and of course to be accepted as a payment method by everyone and every bank . In addition , neither one of bitcoin and the blockchain technology are considered as fully mature so we ain't even close from calling bitcoin or any other cryptos a currency, at least from a certain approach .
I do prefer to call cryptos as an investment or a future currency project , because they are the currencies of the future for sure

, we just need to control the fluctuations a bit to gain more credibility and trust from the people who are still hesitant and we'll be good to go.
