For miners and pool operators, please update your Wallet client to latest version 0.9.2. It allows RE-TARGETING difficulty EVERY BLOCK to help small-time miners in a pool.

for anyone else, the wallet will auto-sync when new block found. if you want faster transaction and confirmations, please do more mining and join hashfaster pool.
