blockchain.info is really good as your hot wallet

for medium term funds I'd use paper wallets or 1 time brain wallets with pass-phrases (1 on your desk, 1 local backup, 1 cloud backup)

Some kind of M of N scheme is probably the best. It protects against theft and destruction if done properly.

I use litecoin qt for my LTC, but I haven't used the bitcoin qt, I will probably end up using it for a portion of my holdings, but I am impatient with downloading the entire blockchain..

And you could be hit by a car tomorrow, or you might die in your sleep If your paper wallet, stored in your desk, burns then your pc and whole house will probably go with it.
Only thing you can be sure of is a brainwallet. The question is, what if you have a stroke or something and forget?

BitcoinQT and Mycelium. BitcoinQT out of tradition and Mycelium because it handles well spending from paperwallets. Evangelizing Bitcoin by tipping people with paperwallets and not having a good way to redeem paperwallets other than Mycelium pretty much forces me to this. Hear blockchain.info would work, too.
