    Because the title of the site then and so my old bookmark reads "Crypto-Currency Market Capitalizations | Bitcoin Litecoin Peercoin Namecoin Novacoin Primecoin Feathercoin WorldCoin CryptogenicBullion Devcoin and more..." when I set the bookmark in around 2013. Only two, Bitcoin and Litecoin are still widely talked about, the rest has more or less gone into oblivion.

    I just thought I'll mention it.

    If only I had thought about crypto at that time, I would be in much better condition I'm in presently. But I think and hope that its not too late yet and we are still early in this amazing journey.

    Coinmarketcap is just trying to spam the title tag for ranking with some "not popular coins". Old school method from 2010 haha. Pretty sure if you check in 3 months some coins will be added and/or removed.
    Basically, it could just something like Crypto Market Capitalization (and moon)

    That's true somehow. Many of the Coins were "hot" in 2013 and today many people do not even know these Coins. There you can see how fast the crypto world is developing and how quickly hot Coins turns into old and forgotten Coins. 2013, the crypto world was still manageable.  Wink

    For example, the first snapshot back in April 2013 only has seven coins: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Peercoin, Namecoin, Terracoin, Devcoin and Novacoin.

    the more interesting thing about that is the fact that all the top 10 coins were very different back then and #2 was a very different coin which has changed many times in past years each time with a new altcoin claiming to be replacing bitcoin just to disappear a while later and each time they make the  claims a lot of newbies fall for that and pour their money into them!!!

    ps. my nostalgic bookmark is for preev which says "256.3 USD - Preev"

    All coins are not in the market to stay. Bitcoin, Litecoin were potential enough to survive and the rest are almost forgotten. There are many such coins now as well which has a huge hype now but will be forgotten in the long run. So, choose your coin wisely.

    I've never been a fan of coin market cap. Market cap is a poor way of defining a coin's value and only implores new coins and tokens to provide massive amounts of coins.

    What's wrong with a total of 21 million coins? Or less even. Its why so many coins are issued in the billions, its their only chance to show up on coin market cap.

    Yeah, some of them I'm still familiar at like WorldCoin. But crypto's already evolved so much that some of them may have died a natural death and totally forgotten. I think its like less than 20 coins at that time and today we see hundreds if not thousands of tokens being born everyday and currently in circulation with no purpose at all but for pure pump-and-dump scheme.

    Really good to know u are with Coinmarketcap from 2013 and i know cryptocurrency from 2016 but now Coinmarketcap is Giving too much info about coins and this is the best place to see which market is on top of down. but i am not using this site much more because TAB TRADER app is sufficient for me this is the good app for trader definitely everyone like this.

    The reason why those coins are already being left behind on the the top list is because they have not sustained the sales and movement of their coins. It is the developers fault for not making a good marketing to uplift their coins. Also to mention they are not the only coins being washed out of coinmarket.cap there are also coins and hundreds of them that are being left behind and died without a value.

    That’s why Bitcoin is so popular. It works like the backbone of crypto world. It is gradually improving day by day. But not all of the older coins could do the same. This is the reason behind their disappearance.

    Bitcoin is the horse for long race. It doesn’t come to the cryptoworld to die so early. It no other coin can replace it then it is quite impossible to remove it from the cryptoworld.

    lt is easier to invest in ALTcoins because of it's transparent footprint, you can analyze it's growth or fall accordingly. Although, I think ICOs are more of a bet on the table, can go either way, no proven track record rather you have to invest based on your intuition.But, both can be profitable if invested with proper research.

    The interesting fact in seeing the previous and present Coinmarketcap stats is that BTC remained the same in the position, the first. Another fact, Back in 2013, we had a few coins to discuss and trade with but for now, we have more than hundreds. That proves how Crypto-space is evolving and the market is being spread. An interesting discussion to make us more enthusiasts.

    There were many coins in 2013 and today many people do not even know those coins but we can see how fast the order of the crypto world is developed. The world of crypto was still manageable. We should think about our investment and work for betterment and that will bring us at highest position I think.

    That is how the coin market works. Coins which has potential, infrastructure will remain in the market till the end and other coins that are only there to compete not developing, upgrading their own mechanisms will remain in pages of history. This post made me nostalgic.

    Coinmarketcap.com is the best place to get concrete, correct and elaborate information about all the cryptocurrencies that are listed there. When any coin is listed on coinmarketcap it means the developers of the coin and the project is serious. No matter how a coin look  promising today it can go into extinct at any time especially altcoins. So work with the coins you are seeing the coinmarketcap.
