Probably everyone acknowledge it was fake, swear to never buy Newsweek and move on.

When it comes to Satoshi background i don't even think he would need any financial background. Finances knowledge is probably not that necessary, not to mention if he is smart enough and for sure he is, he can just easy learn on his own without college or anything.

I doubt very much that it is a fake, infact I am totally convinced it is real. But it is perhaps a shocking piece of journalism in the sense that this old man's live is going to be turned upside down. From the photograph Newsweek printed of his family home, many have already tracked it's whereabout's using google maps.

The other aspect of it is that if it does turn out that this project is a NSA Trojan Horse (whether Satoshi is wise to the fact or otherwise), then this piece of journalism could prove to be a huge public service.....bad for Bitcoin millionaires of course.

I think that is what everyone around here is getting in such a fizz about, denying it, calling the story fake, and then writing self-reassuring stories of how Bitcoin would bounce right back up even if Satoshi were to dump his stash. etc etc.

Now that his anonymity is gone, he may now be forced or pressurised to draw upon his BTC. Bitcoiners don't want cold storage Bitcoin going to market in search of FIAT, they want FIAT going to market in search of hoarded Bitcoin.

I don't know what's the difference who created bitcoin if we know now whe is working to improve it. It's also important, especially that you know who to "ask" about changes you want to have in the protocol.

I agree, but to me the bigger concern is that the media begins to dive into the mysterious "creator" story. I suspect we are to see more attempts to get the full story. It will have to break at some point and negative portrayals to an already blemished crypto-currency will only decrease the valuation.

Their writing styles are way different. On the one hand you have a semi senile old man with poor english who just wants his free lunch. On the other hand you have a supposed math genius who was extremely careful to hide his identity, encrypts all his messages with PGP, and very good english...

It's a no brainer. Newsweek jumped the gun and now lots of idiots actually think this poor old man is Satoshi, hahahahahahah what a joke.
