The subject of mining and energy is completely relative. The energy consumed in today's conditions will not be the same as the future. Perhaps, as a result of some technological developments, energy consumption will decrease. I think we have more important problems, such as legal regulations.

I think the future really is Bitcoins as it is the most dominant Cryptocurrency in the market right now and also it's decentralised.
Most people trust and invest in Bitcoins than any other.
Although legalisation with the government is the most important step before we can say anything about evolution of Bitcoins.

If given that some Altcoin will have an opportunity to increase in value just like Bitcoin or some Altcoin would gain the level just like Bitcoin did, It will be the same the transaction would surely get slower because of Bitcoin back then had a faster transaction because it's not that hard to mine back then, The fact that there are miner fees to cover and miner to confirm a transaction they will need a higher fee, And that is why lightning network was introduce,

Well, I can say that Bitcoin may become a future currency or asset because it got the foundation that its stablish right now more than any other Altcoin, It is the main crypto and the father of all Cryptocurrencies so that is the real base of Bitcoin's superiority.

For me yes, we don't know really but I believe it is the future in the crypto world, and not only bitcoin because the crypto market is growing and the adoption continues. I can envision the future that crypto is a big part of the digital currency world, especially bitcoin.

There is a team that handles any updates on the bitcoin core software and on the blockchain in reneral. But mainly there arr many trade-offs. They can make blocks bigger for example, for scalability purposes, but that might compromise security, make node setup much harder, increase the "oprhan" proportion between blocks and many others that we might not even think about. It is very hand to update the perfect system. You have to take too many variables into account.
It will take some time for the shitcoins to evolve and come up with better ideas and newer thechnologies that eventually can be implemented into btc if the community will agree.
The same thing is all over the tech world. Very hard to upgrade without screwing something else up. Patience my friend...

No Btc is not future. Future is blockchain. We may say that BTC is just one product of Blockchain. Blockchain is the future of world and technology. We can not say that BTC equal Blockchain. Blockchain will change everything in the world.

I wouldn't mind if you give us a comprehensive list of the coins you claim are better equipped than the bitcoin, as far as I know, no alternative coin has the capability to compete with the bitcoin, no alt is even a threat to bitcoin.
Bitcoin is the main coin because it's the first, most stable, has the highest value and is the top of the cryptocurrency coins.

Bitcoin has a good chance to become world's currency, and overcome all its opposition. It comes with tremendous inertia, it simply cannot be stopped overnight after 10 years of energy being put to it.

For a true contender to challenge it, it would need first to overcome all the other altcoins. No altcoin has kept the first place among themselves for long.

Such contender has to be a better Bitcoin, not a worse Bitcoin. this is difficult as Bitcoin itself can, and has been improved (albeit slowly) over time. Also Bitcoin does have a big prestige, no altcoin or even Bitcoin wannabes have managed to snatch for themselves, no matter how much money they invest.

As any other Free open-source software project, it IS possible for a better alternative to emerge, but it still hasn't happened, or has failed to convince the market.

Bitcoin is developing. It is not stagnant at all. And the technologies affecting Bitcoin are also developing. The speed of transactions are being efficiently addressed. The Lightning Network is the step by which the concerns about speed is given solution to. As regards energy consumption, various steps are also done in order to put into the picture the use of renewable energy. Many of these have already materialized.

Yes, future is of Bitcoin or else cryptocurrency as no one want to hodl on their asset so, decentralization is going to rule the financial community in the future for sure.
