    ..OpenSSL library is pretty slow.
    OpenSSL's advantage in versatility, but not in speed, no.

    I bet python+coincurve will be faster!
    ideally you need C bitcoin/secp256k1
    I am porting your code to bitcoin/secp256k1 as soon as the source code is published.
    (there is the usual addition and multiplication of points, nothing complicated)
    (..but I feel you want to do it yourself, your own and not someone else's head?)
