How to Setup Telegram Bitcointalk SuperNotifier V2(TryNinja's Bot) on Telegram!

Hello noobs, newbies, jr. members and those who didn't used this yet. This thread is for you.
I really don't know if you are aware ot not of TryNinja's Bitcointalk SuperNotifier V2 which will notify
you on telegram when a forum user quoted your posts. It is also possible to track topics, ignore topics and ignore users.
This time i'll be sharing you on how to used it or set it up on telegram. THOSE WHO ALREADY KNOW THIS please notify me if I made some mistakes about the steps.

Notice:
Some may experienced wrong number of merits counted when they received a merit. It could be fixed by typingsetmerit (your merit count). It will show that the count is now correct.

You can set this on telegram app on your phone or on desktop. THIS TIME, I'll use my mobile phone.

First, Open this link that redirects you to telegram https://t.me/BTTSuperNotifier_bot
Once you are in telegram,
Click/Press the "START".

Second, The bot will ask your bitcointalk username. Example, nakamura12

Third, Is your username nakamura12?
Then "Choose YES"

Fourth, What is your bitcointalk UID?
E.G, My UID is 1726595 which can be found when you get your profile link which mine is
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1726595.
AS YOU CAN SEE, the UID is the number or digits in the link.
After that, then "CHOOSE YES".

Fifth, Do you want to be notified of new mentions?
Select "YES".

Do you want to be notified of new merits?
Select "YES".

NOW, You are good to go. You'll received a notification from telegram when someone mentioned you or you got merited.
You can also use the tracked topics when you want to know if there is a forum users who post in the thread you created.

Is there any notification bot that does not require Telegram? I despise the layout of Telegram and find it overwhelming. With this bot though does it allow you to monitor multiple people? I would like to use it instead of getting notified when I get @ I would like to track some of the members here that I like the posts of and would like to have multiple notifications if possible.

Actually, I don't know if someone did create another notification bot aside from what hatshepshut shared that is made solely for this forum that y doesn't use telegram but I tries just now and it said user denied permission to use the Push API. What I know is that the forum also have notifications through email. You can find it on profile and then Notifications and Email but you won't know it right away if someone did mentioned you through quote and you won't receive a notification about it compared to this telegram bot unless you always check your email.

I just wish the forum had something like follow a member so that you would not miss their posts. Using a bot like the one above is fine but it would be more convenient without downloading a browser extension to have it implemented on the forum and I think a lot of people would find use for it.

I only receive merits notifications I was told I would receive mentions, quotes and new replies to my topic or the topic I'm following but revise is the case, Is there something I did wrong? I've been using it for 5 months now.

You need to give the site permission to send you push notifications. Look at the left top corner.

Try to open menu on the botmenu. Make sure you enable the notifications from mentions. We have the same notification with AhmadM. Just make sure you enabled it. I have tried disabling the mention notification then I didn't receive notification and when I re-enable, I did received notifications again. If, telegram is not showing notifications then you might have not allowed notifications from telegram.

X means it is enabled and ✅ means it is disabled. Your settings before that is enabled is only merit notification that's why you didn't received any notification about you being mentioned or by quote and only receive merit notifications. Change your settings that wiml show X and let me know when you done changing it and I'll quote your post and see if it works.

You ask the creator which is TryNinja. When you setup this bot you don't have to input your personal and phone number but you need a phone number to create a telegram account.

Thank you both for the replies. So, if I understand correctly, the bot does not have access to our cell phone number? I must admit that I do not know much about how Telegram bots work.

Those who set the bot already but didn't get notifications even if the settings is ticked on and the settings in telegram is also ticked on. All you need to do to get notifications is to delete the bot and you have to re set the bot and it should be working now.

You can ask igehh. He/she have been using this bot and my guess is that he/she didn't have problem with the bot as this bot is for notifications alone so nothing to worry about it. On igehhh's case is the bot won't notify igehhh that he/she is being mentioned. I manage to help igehhh to get notifications from the bot.

Telegram users in general can't see the phone number associated with your Telegram account. So, even if you and me where having a private chat over Telegram, we can't see each others cellphone numbers. But if you add me into your contacts book or I added you, we would both be able to see the phone numbers of our accounts. My guess is that Telegram bots don't have any additional permissions or that they can spy on us. Maybe they make logs of IPs that access them!?
