Yup, no more Div 3A and Div3B, but a single Division 3 with buy-in fee and better rewards. Div4 will be the real amateur league now - it will be without buyins and will be played for freebets.


I do agree that elimination is the last step - the 'problem' with BSFL is that it is H2H so it is a problem when people forget to submit.
That means that it is better to have less committed players than a lot but ones that are not really committed.

We are trying to solve this problem season after season, where the rewards are low people will naturally forget or be lazy to do it. As BSFL grows, it will be 'professional' for more and more people - we believe that Division 3 in Season 6 will be a lot more serious than Divisions 3A and 3B are currently.

We tried to find the best solution for things like these, but if you miss 3 out of 15 games you simply can't be a part of a H2H competition - because it ruins the experience for everyone else.

There is also no way people would pay any penalties in lower leagues. Maybe club selling will now make some of them step up a league or two - we will see.

In competitions like these changes have to be slow - because we cannot change the rules mid-season. In 5 years we haven't really lost a lot of players, and we lost only one (casperBGD) in the leagues that have a buy-in fee. Therefore we don't really feel that the elimination rule is too strict - but it is a shame when we do lose a player.

That would be unfair to those that lost to the guy.
Imagine that you and me are tied for the title, you played against that guy and lost and I'm about to play him in the last round.

I get a free pass and win the title, which is a horrible outcome.

As said, we don't feel it will still be an issue in Season 6. Div3 will have some prizes for almost all places, so there will be more reason to submit.
It will still happen in Div4 - but whatever we do it will remain a problem in the lowest league that rewards only freebets.

The buy-in fee is the participation fee which every player pays to compete for the season, for the current season only Division 1 and 2 paid to participate, the division was free to join/play and that is going to change next season, however I think there will be a new division which will be free to play still.



I completely understand, there is no easy that wouldn't affect some people over the other, if the whole result becomes null and avoid they same thing could If had a 1-2 point lead over a player who had lost to the said person, while I did lose against him. I'm only in for taking every potential position in the league with the same importance, so I find it better to alter 12 results for the sake of 3.

I'm sure you guys always review these rules and arrive at some fair ground with these decisions making which I more often than not always agree with.

How did Hhampuz manage to play more games (13) than the rest of us? The updated table did not affect me as I expected; I still top the league despite playing fewer games.

Noticed several times already that you really took time to read the rules and then used common sense to interpret situations. Really impressive for first season. It all seems very straightforward to us organizers and then we feel a bit taken back when people that are with us for several season miss some important part of how BSFL works. Fact that you got it in season 1 means it is all well explained for those that take time to do so.

If only we had more new additions like you. Rookie of the year title is already yours for sure. Not that it comes with anything except bragging rights 

I do not know what you mean by checking the odd and betting, I am sure many here check the odds of possible outcomes before making their pick for questions, but there is no requirement to wager, neither do I think there should be.

Eliminating players is not the objective as it is, the objective is to get players to be active as that is what must have kept the competition up to the 5th season.

I think the window to submit answers is short (I have sometimes seen the 2 days flash by after just making a mental note to return to the questions) but working on that will be difficult to do. Only fix looks to be announcing the next week's question while the current one is still active which can be confusing for some.

As we were only focused on our remaining 2 matches as a team then I completely forgot about replying to your PM. After remembering that I have done it as quick as possible. BSFL has turned into such a big organization like this in a very short time. And this is a really incredible thing. As there is a break for the league this week I have called the team for a camp. And I believe we are going to collect 6 points in the remaining 2 matches.

Not possible at all, even this is problematic for sports like tennis, snooker and most USA sports that play games every 2-3 days.
Ideally we'd ask questions on Monday evening with ~20h deadline.

That would be optimal for the competition (to have the best possible questions), but would probably be a bit too demanding for players. 2 days is the soft spot, anything longer than that and the quality of the questions/variety of sports drops significantly.

Give it a break, man. Lol, I understand how our division works, and I know we're one club short, but I was curious how Hhampuz went from a serious title candidate a few weeks ago to fighting for promotion slots now. Gave me the biggest chase ever!!


I  believe the two days are enough for everyone to commit 20 minutes of their time. I've missed submitting twice in the past, and I have no excuses. If you're unsure about your Monday and Tuesday activities, you can do what Hhampuz does and submit your answers on Sunday and enjoy the rest of the week.

For latecomers like us, I prefer to wait until a few hours before the deadline before submitting; I've programmed my brain that way. You will get used to it with time.
