When I was checking BSFL topic few minutes ago I saw that all divisions table images are working anymore.
Do we have any backup option until situation is back to normal, and why would someone attack TalkImg website?

I checked my backups, and my last download was from August 11. When your server works again, I'll check what went wrong. Can you add more than the last 15 days to the backup zip, so I have a full backup again?

I wanted to spin up a temporary server for you to point the domain to, so the images show up again, but that's kinda pointless if I miss months of recent uploads.

This is nothing urgent so take your time to fix everything and get back service online again.
TalkImg has become very popular with bitcointalk community and sadly that attracted more attackers, so I think you need to upgrade ddos protection after this incident.

It shows how reliant this site's user experience is on your service.  I don't know if money would help solve problems like this, but it seems like maybe a Grant system should be looked at to help developers like yourself have the necessary funds to make sure your project continues to thrive.

I think this is probably the first big setback for TalkImg service since it launched, and it's amazing that it was working without problems for more than a year.
I hope nothing was lost in this attack, it would be problematic to restore all the files.

Btw, is everyone effected by this? I just checked on my laptop, everything seems fine, I can see the images, no issue no broken images. But at the same time, as I check through my smartphone, all the images are broken. Just letting you know....

Everything is the same as it was, until the moment it all started.




Unfortunately it is a sad reality. There is not much way to avoid this situation.

In +10 years of working with websites, it was the first time I had this problem. So it all ended up being a bit new to me. This only helps us learn and grow, to reduce the impact of this situation in the future.

I inform you that, if everything goes as planned. In an hour, everything should be back up and running.

the situation sucks, but take it easy man, there is no rush to get the website back up. take your time.

not sure if you are using a cdn for the images or serving them directly from your server, but it's possible someone uploaded images and then used them on a website with big traffic, which could explain why your server is being hammered by all the requests.
if that is the case, you might want to disable hotlinking so that you can get the website back up and check the logs to see what exactly is causing this.

i can't imagine this is a targeted attack?
