I'm checking mempool.space basically every day, especially when I want to make a transaction. I've been actively watching it the last couple of months and honestly, I'm shocked. The minimum transaction fees have constantly been as low as 0.4-0.5 sat/vByte, rarely going up to 1, 2 and 3 sat/vByte and this only happens when block doesn't get confirmed within 10-20 minutes and users have to wait 30-40 or more minutes. What really shocks me is that so many people pay so high transaction fees. Almost every block on mempool contains max transaction fee like 500, 600, 700 sat/vByte.

I understand that automated services are mostly responsible for this because some of them care about the certainty of next-block confirmation but still, when fees are so low, let's set max 10x amount of recommended fee instead of 100x and 200x. I don't understand the logic. I also can't believe that it's automated backend and wallet makes a mistake because no sane person would leave backend settings so messed up for such a long time and waste lots of money on fees when there is no necessity.
