I am not sure what happened with regards to the case against Binance and CZ other than both accepted liability for their crimes. Binance paid a financial fine whereas CZ paid a financial fine and had a custodial sentence in jail for around four months (I believe).

If they wanted they could have given CZ a more extreme punishment therefore something might have been negotiated in the plea bargain that reduced his sentence and increased the financial penalty. The problem for Ver is that he surrendered his US citizenship, that could go against him if he gets extradited.

Regardless of my personal feelings towards Ver, CZ or Bankman-Fried it is clear Ver seems to be more articulate and relatable than the other two combined. I think it is probably more than just about the position CZ held at Binance that led him to a short sentence via his plea bargain deal. They know Ver is no longer an American citizen and maybe that could be held against him.

The possible jail sentence hanging over Ver (if he is extradited and then found guilty), is extremely long at a maximum of 109 years. If it were to occur, he will die in jail but CZ faced a four month sentence plus $50 million fine (Binance were fined $4.3 billion) and Bankman-Fried received a 25 years sentence.

I was not sure there were other criminal charges against Ver apart from the alleged tax evasion (relating to the Bitcoin that were owned by his companies and not declared therefore did not pay tax on them) when he surrendered his citizenship.

After searching I found the full list of alleged crimes, they are: three counts of mail fraud and three counts of subscription to a false tax returns and two counts of tax evasion.

I have no idea what "mail fraud" is but the maximum sentence is 20 years per count therefore it could be 60 years. The "three counts of subscription to a false tax returns" carries a maximum of 3 years per count therefore it could be 9 years. Finally, the "two counts of tax evasion" carries a maximum of 5 years per count therefore it could be 10 years.

If extradited and found guilty with maximum sentences per count, that is 79 years rather than the reported 109 years.

It was reported in April 2025 that Ver paid $600,000 in February 2025 to a lobbyist trying to get the law changed that would in retrospect have not led to the extradition request. With a such a long sentence hanging over his head if he is extradited and found guilty, it stands to reason why he wants to fight extradition.

I am surprised he has managed to avoid extradition for this length of time. I think if it were someone that could not afford the best lawyers, they probably would have been in a US jail awaiting trial by now or entering some sort of plea bargain deal.

He should tell them core sabotaged bitcoin and bcash is the real bitcoin. That line alone will flip the whole situation around to Rodger’s favor. All cases dropped, Spain found guilty. $1 billion compensation for all the wrongdoings against Rodger.

And from that moment on bcash officially becomes bitcoin.

Many things Roger Ver did I don't agree with, but this time I am no his side and so is Ross Ulbricht that received a lot of help from Roger in the past.
There is still a chance for Roger to get pardoned by Trump, if not now than maybe in the end of his term.

I definitely missed this. Regarding MemoryDealers at the time, I have not found any material online that suggests it was or was not a prolific seller of computer components or that it was collecting huge deposits in Bitcoin from purchasing customers. If everything stated in the article is true, it raises questions about why those payments were sent and received between the two parties.

Keeping that aside, if memory serves correct Ver made a video just before Mt. Gox shut down whilst sitting in their Japan office. He claimed to have seen bank statements and letters showing various things and stated that Mt. Gox did not have a liquidity problem. For reasons I never understood, I think he blamed the traditional banking system instead of Mt. Gox and their team.

It seemed to be similar to a promotion video akin to an advertisement that actors get paid for. I am not stating Ver was paid or even had an ulterior motive behind his participation in the video but (at the very least) it showed extremely poor judgement on his part.

Also from the same article, Changpeng Zhao is also asking for a pardon from the Donald hehehehe. It would be proven that we live in a simulation if the Donald will pardon Sam Bankman-Fried first before CZ hehehehe.

Sam has shared a gm in social media which appears that he is implying that he is having talks with the American government.

$48 mln., is a significant amount. And you're still waiting for the US government to start buying up bitcoin. Heh-heh. Why would they do that when they can get bitcoin for free? First, they'll shake down all the fat BTC-owners, and then they'll go after ordinary citizens (may be).

Roger Ver seems to have impressive bitcoin reserves if he's willing to hand over (as if he has a choice) such impressive sums.

This would be a particularly interesting precedent. I think former FTX clients would immediately raise a fuss, which the government would surely recognize and prevent.

That is significant amount for most people, but Roger can afford it.
Alternative for that is spending life in prison, and I am not sure he can survive that experience again.

Ofc he has been lying all along. It doesn’t take rocket science to spot a liar. The dude has been repeating the same lie for a decade: “bcash is the real bitcoin. Bitcoin core is an altcoin.” Never once backpedaled from this lie because he knows there is no authority to punish him for something like this but that doesn’t even matter to him as we see he is also trying to fool the governments.
