You can expect 2x or 3x your profit with long term investment here long term means 4-10 years but you may need to hold longer. However, it may take less time to get your desired profit. I also know many traders but I don't see anyone making profits in recent days. Of course, long-term investors cannot make profits with the current market situation either, but at least they don't lose money and their money is still intact. Short-term investing sounds attractive because we can make money immediately, but things don't work like that, short-term investing is like a trap for the market to take our money faster.

It's not necessary to hold Bitcoin long-term. To my mind, the best approach is to focus on catching the best moments instead of holding them like a gold stone. I can tell you my personal experience. I held Bitcoins from the 2017 year till the 2020 year. Then, when the price started rising and reached a certain high level, I decided to sell my coins. Then I saw the opportunity that buying and holding of BNB would be the best bet for a high ROI, which I did. I sold and bought BNB multiple times but sold them finally when the price reached 600 USD. At first, I was frightened because BNB went up to 700 USD but then gladly, soon there was a huge crash because China banned Bitcoin mining and at the same time, Elon Musk made a negative announcement about Bitcoin. So, my short position gave me a great profit but soon I closed it and then invested in Matic because there was a big opportunity, this coin was rising despite the fact that Bitcoin and altcoins were falling.
Long story short, this is not the right path and is full of extreme moments, my head was exploding with excessive thoughts during those times. That's why I prefer long-term, just sit, relax and wait.

The truth is that, be it long term or short term, what matters is that we are making profits and I can also relate with what op is saying because most times, with the hype on long term holding, it seems those who are holding for short term or even day trading are absolutely on the wrong track and these whole idealogy is absolutely wrong as no matter what means and strategies one chooses to employ in the industry, what actually matters is that, we’re making profits and staying profitable in the market.

Holding for long terms has proven over time to be in one of the safest and less risky way to make profits in the industry but frankly, to hold for long term, requires a lot of patience, dedication and determination to achieve this whole especially in a world with unending problems.

I also think to hold for long term, one ought to have other sources of income aside bitcoin, else holding for long terms might be very difficult for the holder if not impossible.

OP, how will you succeed in bitcoin investment if you don't learn how to be patient and invest for a long term. There is a popular saying that goes like this "patience is the key to every crypto investor".

I take it as, in crypto, If you can't be patient, you will miss so many good opportunity of becoming millionaires in crypto. So many of the early investors who were impatient and have the same mindset of yours not to hodl their bitcoin for long. Ain't them regretting their action today of the wrong move they took on selling their bitcoin early than being patient to hodl it for long term.
