Court case doesn't make crypto mainstream but I want to know how they ruled out that Daniel TAmbosso has to repay $1.2 million for a loan of 22 Bitcoins. I think that will be Canadian dollars, which is way cheaper than American dollars. 1.2 million Canadian dollars in American dollars is 890,000 USD. At the moment Bitcoin is worth 1,404,889 American dollars which in Canadian dollars is 1,893,253
In 2021, Bitcoin highest price in Canadian dollar is about 84,100 $CAD and 22 bitcoins are 1,85M $CAD equivalently.
https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/bitcoin/cadIf the court takes a price on different days and take a lowest price of Bitcoin in 2021, on 1 January 2021, at 37,000 $CAD, the value of 22 bitcoins would be 814,000 $CAD. Difference between lowest and highest values is 1M $CAD, that is very big.
That's a huge benefit for Daniel, who defaulted on the loan and a huge loss for Hung Nguyen, who gave away the loan
Hung Nguyen will happy if he receives it, even the repayment is a loss for him, it's better than losing all 22 bitcoin. Daniele according to the court and article, does not have good finance to repay Hung Nguyen.
