I expect that the inscribing will go out of fashion and nobody will care to buy that crap any longer. Of course, some different mania may have to start for that.
On the other hand, I find the block times, the big price fluctuation and the incentive of hoarding bigger impediments to day to day shopping than the fees.
Well, sometimes the fees too, but imho they are the 3rd or 4th impediment in the list (or lower, if I've missed something).

This also makes me remember the time Binance exchange made a change in policy to allow low capital fund projects be listed on their exchange, but later on, they discover that they have to delist as many as possible coins and tokens because of the same reason, which is lack of investors and capital fund for a project to exist.

Now back to your own opinion on lower fees, in life, we should always consider the two sides of a thing, both the good one and the bad one, if we are having higher fees and many projects are still making it up to afford on this, that does not create the justification that we are not going to come across shitcoins or crypto network challenges like scam, hacks and attacks of different kinds, but we should not because of a single demerit, forfeit the whole advance we may have from the entire decentralized networks, we cant stop evil, but we can prevent ourself from being a victim of one.

To me, an empty mempool is a bad sign, and I hope we never experience one again. Yes, it allows me to make cheap on-chain transfers, but the bigger issue is that it indicates people aren't using Bitcoin, which will ultimately impact not just me, but the entire network.

I don't mind what's being broadcasted, as long as it pays a sufficient fee. An empty mempool is a sign of a dead network.

They literally fought in the blocksize wars over it, splintered the community, set off the rise of the shitcoins, and forced many companies to move their businesses away from Bitcoin as they felt they could no longer trust core developers to prioritize blockchain usage over their own patented L2 solution.

Sometimes I wonder what would happen if hypothetically everybody chooses to hold their Bitcoin.

People especially those who want to profit from anything will look for new things to entice people or attract people into looking and investing in their scheme.  So this kind of madness will ever be existing in the Bitcoin network regardless it is in laye 1 or layer 2 or helpful or disastrous for the Bitcoin blockchain.  These people never consider other things than making money for themselves.
It is sad that developers have never done anything to stop this kind of madness, the ones suffering are the legit people who only want to make use of the Bitcoin network for day-to-day transactions.


True, unless some features of Bitcoin that allow this kind of madness are removed or censored, this thing will go on forever.

These madness will eventually die, like other trends that appear and disappear in many bull market. People are more easily mad when they are enjoying a big bull run but when bull run stops, bear market appears, they will start to be uncertain, fearful and their portfolios become less green or even start with light red. When the market comes to time when fear is dominating, and greed is less existing, these hyped madness like Ordinals, Runes will die with time.

Bitcoin Cash, a shit coin is an example. 7 years after a hard fork year in 2017, in 2024 and 2025, it's really hard for Bitcoin Cash team to create a new greed trend on their blockchain and that shit coin.

yes when the devs flipped from saying 1mb+=unsafe for network to 4mb=safe for network, they should have listened to the critics warning them of the impending junk,  put limits on tx length maximums so that people cant just junk up a tx with 4mb of crap, yes they should have allowed all tx data into the 4mb space and not just the witness, then we could have more tx per block
yes we should have proper validation rules that dont 'assume-valid' anything and actually have rules a tx has to comply with to ensure each byte has a proper purpose
but when core devs care less about blockchain efficiency and only care about roadmaps that follow ideologies of their sponsors, whereby bloating bitcoins blockchain is a goal to win their golden contract bonuses. just goes to show how little the core devs care about efficiency, lean tx, true validation and where every byte counts and tx how counts should scale up to allow more access without fee war competition

As long as people are making money off of runes, I don't think that we will never see an end to this kind of stuff, it's already been too long for this kind of stuff already and I don't get the hype of it, it's not even making it big in the crypto space and people aren't talking too much about it in a good way so it's really weird that they've persisted for so long. @d5000 is right though, it's a slow death because eventually, people would get tired of it and I do hope that it does, maybe when a new thing in crypto happens, we would see a total decline with runes and inscriptions in crypto, for people that are still doing this, they must really hate other people using bitcoin for transactions so they do their best to slow down the network.

They are both very useless, Ordinal and Runes as NFTs and ERC20 on Bitcoin blockchain.

These people spent money in a stupid way but they believed that joining Ordinal and Runes games will help them richer quickly. It's their hope but reality is different.

$ORDI from ATH about $100 to $33 now, it gives many people big loss and it won't stop here, when bear market comes in 2026 and 2027, I won't surprise if $ORDI lose its price and fall to like $5 or lower like $3. $3 is its bottom now but if in a bear market, it is broken, $ORDI will he divided 2 or 3 times to prices like $2 or $1. It will cause massive losses for people with entries around $100 or even $30 now.
