Be ready to wait for a long time and only put the money you may not be needing for a long time into bitcoin, don't buy Bitcoin with money that you have urgent need to use, because doing so will put you under pressure to see the price recover at each time.

You will need more time to become an actual Bitcoiner who needs to understand power of HODL and have diamond hands for hodling in one full market cycle or better through several market cycles.

Many people can join Bitcoin market with their purchases but they don't stay here for too long. After several market downs, corrections, bull market drawbacks, crashes in a bear market, they easily panic sell to have loss and fearfully leave the market forever. Some of them will call Bitcoin is a fraud, and if you won't be short-lasting Bitcoin holder like them, you will gradually become an actual Bitcoiner.

When did you purchase this first bitcoin ? If it was 2010 or before, you are one of the investors whose life got changed because of bitcoin investment. Even if you invested recently, there is nothing lost. If you hold for next 10 years, you can expect 10 times returns in the next 10 years. You should also inform your friends about bitcoin, now that it is 16 years old, more new users will trust it and try investing some amount in it.

there's no indication to suggest that OP is part of the earlier Bitcoin investor. OP created his account on the forum this year and isn't yet all too knowledgeable on Bitcoin so it's unlikely that he's been an active investor prio to this year. Again, holding Bitcoin for the next 10 years doesn't guarantee 10X returns and for that to even happen, it means that Bitcoin must have gotten to $700k which is a figure I wouldn't outrightly assume is too easy to get to.

Bitcoin is still profitable and has a lot of benefit in holding it with potential returns that's still good but it's still good not to be too ambitious on what we expect from it. For those that knows it worth, it's an asset that's worth holding and even if you're not fortunate to be part of those that have been involved in it for even up to 5 or 10 years, the few moments spent in the Bitcoin ecosystem is always fieled with a lot of positives.

Congratulations on purchasing your first Bitcoin. I hope you didn't have to utilise your entire savings for this and you still have emergency funds left. Also I hope you didn't take a loan to purchase it.

Bitcoin can be very unpredictable. Even though it has shown phenomenal growth since its inception but the past performance is not an indicator for the future performance. So have patience and avoid fomo.

I congratulate OP on that too, and, yes, totally - the volatility of BTC is both its strength and curse.
It should be used and seen in appropriate light to be effective and stay on the bright side of things.

Although the date of the white paper announcement is important, Bitcoin began with the mining of the first block, which is when the network started and continues to operate to this day. 16 years is a very long time, but when compared to many technologies, we are still in the early days.

If I have an option, I'd choose to born in baby boomers generation, even I might hate Bitcoin since old people are mostly stubborn. But, in baby boomers generation, I only need to work under someone company, save and then buy house. One source of income do enough to raise a family with two kids, the wife not have to work.

Today, having 3 jobs in blue collar jobs is still not enough to meet the "social standard".
