Not new anymore it's actually what "con artists " does to survive  , they make you believe in somethings that is false( probably about them ), trusting them to do whatever they  asked of you .. they are still out there and it's not reducing , but those who still fall for those tricks are those who are uninformed/ lazy to make verifications ... I get you can be tricked to do things but why deposit to someone's address to hold your funds ... well, it's still the uninformed

The part of the case that surprised me more is the victims who lost up to $100,000 and $300,000 having a job that already made you secure such an amount of money and still be looking for a remote job that requires you to deposit such money to secure the job, for the scammers to get victims that could risk that kind of money.
 
Maybe there could probably be some private and personal data they have on those target victims because the amount that they were scammed individually is not a small amount of money, but I don't blame the victims as they are just looking for better means to secure more income to be able to take care of family, but it's just unfortunate that they fall into the trap of scammers.

I don't understand why someone needs to pay for a job position before they can get the job. Asking someone to pay for a job position before they can get hired is a red flag of scam. Real employers will never charge any candidate to pay for job offers, or interviews or secure a spot for them. I think because of the desperateness of getting a high-paying job, many people are in haste in making decisions without thinking of any possibility the offer might be fake. One way to find out in case next time is the urgent demand of payment from these scammers, another is how mandatory they make the payment aspect, but real companies will not make anything mandatory apart from the job requirements like CV and other documents. In general, anyone looking for a job should research the company or organization that gives them a job offer. For example, they can check if they have any legal agreement with the government, find if they have a physical location, and confirm with others if it really exists. That is one of the easiest ways to identify scam companies.

I mean, how naive do you need to be to fall for something like that? Have you ever heard of a company asking you for money before they give you a job? How does that work? When you get a job, you offer your services in return for money; you are not asked for money so that you can earn more money. When someone asks you for money so that they can give you an opportunity to earn more money, you should understand that it's a trap and that actual jobs and assignments don't work that way.

The fact that many people believe earning money online is very easy and anyone can do it is the reason why so many people fall for such scams easily. Once they get an offer, they believe it's real and they will get more money if they spend some because that is how others earn money which isn't true.

It's a basic lack of knowledge issue found in people who are eager to earn money but understand nothing, and they ask others only after they get scammed which is unfortunate since nothing can be done when it's late.

The scammer might be really skilled at manipulating people, which is why some actually ended up funding the crypto wallet provided by the "employer." Aside from that obvious red flag, they probably didn’t notice that the offer was too good to be true. That said, not everyone is aware of these types of scams. Even something as simple as checking if a website is newly created, which can easily be done on certain tools, could help avoid falling victim. Unfortunately, many don’t know these basic steps to protect themselves.


It’s already in the news, so it’s legit - there really have been people scammed. That person probably has a lot of money since they were willing to invest such a huge amount for the promise of attractive commissions and bonuses. Unfortunately, they fell for the trap.

This is the first time I have heard about this type of scam. If the victim has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency, they should have done some research and know more than the average crypto user. How do these people fall into such scams?

I have never heard about scams like this one but I know that in poor countries it is very popular to offer good job benefits to people abroad. For example, some scammers offer people that they'll create a visa for them to work abroad in countries like Dubai. Everyone knows that Dubai is great but people don't know the dark side of Dubai. There is a slavery in UAE. Scammers lie to people, transport them to Dubai and then they become victims of slavery. Poland's visa is also a very popular offer from some scammers. They promise people that they'll have to work in a good environment and their salary will be 100-200 Euro per day but when people move to Poland, they work in factories and farms with bad pay and a high workload.

I always try to go by one rule: if it ain't free, it ain't safe

The moment money is involved and I am required to deposit even the littlest amount of money in order to get into a project, platform or in this case a job then it is an immediate red flag for me. Even with crypto airdrops who ask you to deposit a certain amount of crypto first without any explanation should be enough of a red flag to you and thus you must avoid at all costs.

We are entering a time where being uninformed is no longer a valid excuse. All information is out there in the internet and all you have to do is read be well aware. Be smart if you want to survive in today's world.

But in this case, it’s not free as they required an upfront amount to start the work. It might look legit at first, but the victims’ mistake was not verifying if the people they were dealing with were from a legitimate company. They were likely blinded by the attractive offers and got tempted to fund their crypto wallets.

Also, they probably lacked basic knowledge about wallets too - why else would they use the hacker’s website to set it up?

Why don't the victims have not stumbled about why the job offer is requested crypto wallet in the first place to figure if they were to pay it employees by cryptocurrencies of Fiats.

Even while earning by fiats the company would ask you to submit your bank account number or create one for you were you can get paid without the need to make advance payment.
With this experience if I was to be in the position to encounter these scamming schemes I would reflect to this one thought.

I am personally opted out on any platform that requires me to make an advance payment before my account or profile will be in good use so I don't see convinceable reasons why I would be asked to make payment as follows a job employment unless the employer is deemed to tell me the slot (vacant) is not free but on purchase but then before I will proceed I will find out from right source of it is legitimate or not .

I'm fully aware of this crypto scam. I have came in contact with such offer and perhaps one thing I thought to myself was "did I ever mention I needed job anywhere?" Nah but what was convincing was the pay offer, I couldn't resist it because I could do the work without much stress yet such amount.

But when you're asked to login to a very much unknown website, then it's pretty obvious that it's a scam. what I have realised from them all is that the domain of this websites are always very much suspicious, if you examine them carefully.

It's also good someone is sharing it here, perhaps others can learn and never to get into their hands especially those of us that offer services on platforms like fiverr.
