China is moving towards a more domestic-oriented economic model. The Chinese GDP growth will be less dependent on net export and more dependent on domestic consumption and investments. You may right that China is thinking about doing this because of trade war with Donald Trump. It would not be surprise if China sees this as smart move and maybe even way to get back at US for its economic actions. If China sells more of US Treasury bonds it may cause problems like making mortgage rates in America go up and shaking up global economy like you said about mortgage backed securities but this could also be really big and good for Bitcoin. If major economic power like China starts holding more of Bitcoin it would mean that big institutions are starting to trust it more. This could make other investors both big companies and regular people feel more confident in Bitcoin and put more money into it as safe way to protect their funds from economic problems. If this happens it is very likely that Bitcoin price could go up to another record high. If country like China treats Bitcoin as kind of reserve asset it would be huge change and would make Bitcoin even more important in world financial system.

I mean, when you show some respect, it's getting easier to achieve your favorable agreement but the USA choose a very harsh way and the way of showing power, then the China did the same and now it's clear that the USA is bluffing.
