Personally I have not used Bitcoin to buy anything before but I am looking forward to doing so very soon, Bitcoin is not banned in my country but local businesses don't accept it, they prefer our local currency. I believe all that is about to change very soon, as more people are adopting it in the country sellers will want to take advantage of the adoption to accept it and increase their sales. Nigerian government is not crypto friendly and I believe it is the reason why sellers are skeptical to accept it openly for now. Bitcoin acceptance as payment is growing globally and soon many local retailers in every corner of the world will get in and start to accept it.
It would be good if BTC was at least accepted at all to be used for bigger types of purchases - it would already open lots of gates and propel BTC's usage forward.
Which would be what it strives to be - an alternative.
It is a matter of time, I can tell you with certainty that Bitcoin will be accepted as payment every where in the world by both public and private companies, there is no doubt about this happening as long as Bitcoin continue to exist well.
And as a matter of fact, there are several businesses around the world accepting bitcoin as payment, just that they don't include this information in their means of advertisement, so, a customer who is interested in paying with bitcoin will have to ask the company if they accept bitcoin payment.
But still for me, I will always prefer to keep my bitcoin as investment and spend fiat rather, this is to prevent future regrets.
