It’s not new that in times of the campaigns, politicians would use what they could to get the votes they need. They often look towards the majority and places where they feel might be harmless to harness the votes that might be there. Cryptocurrency is no different and most of all Bitcoin. They understand the emotions of the youths about these things and they leverage it to their advantage.

Outside adoption, what have they done to improve Blockchain technology or to make the cryptocurrency or Bitcoin space more stronger? I don’t think any significant development towards this comes to mind but then, you finding them putting policies that would benefit the government of the day.

The government is selfish, which is why I cannot fully trust them. Once they notice that people are beginning to have confidence in them, the next thing that follows is manipulation by the government, just for selfish reasons. With all of Trump’s involvement, I expected a clear regulatory roadmap for cryptocurrency by now, at least something tangible we could rely on. All we saw were price manipulations that came as bull runs or dips, which only lasted temporarily. We need more than just price movements and adoption. Adoption is not complete if we cannot carry out transactions legally with Bitcoin and if people still continue to reject the use of Bitcoin as a payment method.

Recognizing bitcoin as a legal tender is not an easy thing because every country has regulations that govern fiat currency as a means of transaction.
Bitcoin is regulated on certain aspects such as use as an investment asset and generally this is what is regulated by the government because it is impossible for the government to try to make new regulations on legal means of transaction using bitcoin.
I don't know what you mean for every bank that is looking for ways to legalize bitcoin, can you explain this?

In order to be profitable, it does not have to be legalized because anyone can hold bitcoin to gain maximum profit from the amount of ownership they have.

There is always a time to sell Bitcoin before government finalizes the law. If suddenly government decides to speak against Bitcoin, business owners are going to exclude Bitcoin from payment options, moreover it is even easier and preferable to pay in fiat for minor businesses owned by individuals. Companies who already holds large amounts of Bitcoin will be the ones in problem, especially if the price of Bitcoin has dropped below what they traded for doing business.

That is not true acceptance of bitcoin. It is more like tolerating bitcoin but those who will buy and hold bitcoin under the government will never really be able to reach true freedom and independency. They probably are there only for the profit.
No one can control the blockchain itself but the government can force their citizens to stop using bitcoin through threats of consequences should they get caught.

Is asking that Bitcoin be used the original way a greedy request? Right from the onset, Bitcoin was created with the sole aim to serve as an alternative means of payment and not really to serve as an investment. If there is anyone who is greedy here, then it is we investors who have chosen to gain financially from the speculative nature of Bitcoin rather than allow it to be used the way it was originally intended to be used. I believe if every Bitcoiner is asked to choose between Bitcoin as an investment and Bitcoin as a currency, many would choose the former. So, it is safe to say that apart from the government, who are still hesitant to accept Bitcoin as an alternative currency, probably because they cannot fully control it, Bitcoin investors are another set of people who are still preventing Bitcoin from being used the original way.

Mind you, just because many hodl Bitcoin does not mean people are not making payments with it.

Maybe he meant to legalize Bitcoin as an asset that can be owned by every bank customer as has been applied to gold assets by banks for customers who want to buy gold through banks and store it with them again. And that could happen to Bitcoin if all banks in the world were willing to accept Bitcoin as a currency that they could store as they do with money and also gold. But I personally stick to my position where I will not want to store any assets in the bank even though I still like bank services and still use them for my personal needs.

Easier said. I understand that we might not really like the government and their controlling nature, but don't forget that the government still owes the citizens the duty of protecting lives and properties. Who comes to the aid of the people if a fraudulent exchange begins to scam them? It's still the government that will ensure those fraudsters are caught and served the necessary punishment. The government will still be available to ensure that criminal activities are reduced. Whether they are investing or not, the government can't stay off. All we ask for is the freedom to use Bitcoin without strict rules or barriers. Bitcoin is very transparent and open for all to access, including the government.

What do you expect from the government that talks about the disadvantages and consequences of bitcoin? That thought alone will never create a good feedback for bitcoin. As long as they see bitcoin as a threat to fiat, they will never support bitcoin and will try to deceive the people instead to not waste their funds on bitcoin, but stick to fiat because it’s completely backed up by the government.

Things are changing right now, even as the government is backstabbing Bitcoin. Most of them can no longer come out openly to condemn it because of how they have started getting involved in it.

They now try to include it in their national reserve plan and create mining plans, which is the same Bitcoin energy they claim to have an environmental effect on. The world is changing, and so are the minds of the people, but the governments are most likely into it because of the profit, nothing more.
