Storing our assets on an exchange means we don't trust ourselves. Storing our Bitcoin on an exchange also indicates we trust the exchange more in terms of security. And I think the only person we can trust most right now is ourselves. Likewise, it's better to hold our Bitcoin assets in our own cold wallets. I don't doubt the security of CEXs, but we know that a CEX can go bankrupt, as several large CEXs have done before. And when that happens and we can't withdraw at all, only then will we realize how foolish we've been. And we can't blame the CEX because storing assets there is our choice. So, personally, I only deposit my assets into a CEX when I'm actually going to trade them. Once I'm finished, I withdraw them the same day. Because you never know what can happen to a CEX. Unfortunately, many beginners entering the crypto space still don't realize the importance of basic insights. "Not Your Key, Not Your Coin."

Surprised? You shouldn't be. You don't expect an exchange to come out and tell you your funds are more vulnerable I their exchange. They will always find a way to make it seem like a better option. I don't blame them for that, I blame people who fall for it.
Fiat Company will find ways to present its case and try to convince you why a Fiat is better than a Ferrari. It's just business and I understand, but whoever is foolish enough to be convinced is who I'll blame.
If the user who had his account frozen had not keep his funds in coinbase, he wouldn't be on the internet having a back and forth argument with a moron.

We have to understand that companies will always say good things about their companies, its not rocket science. They focus on their strengths in advertising and downplay their weaknesses. It is left for us to do our own research and be smart and critical about our decisions.

There are indeed people like this who thinks cex are safe and self custody isn't safe.

If i encounter this kind of people I'd just ignore them, they wouldn't understand until shit hits the fan and they can't withdraw their money because reasons.

I've learned my lesson from ftx already, I'm just already comfortable with my hardware wallet.

You can't get the best knowledge about Bitcoin and crypto on any other forum except Bitcointalk, no sub board on reddit teaches the right information about crypto except those replies are from a scammer trying to lure people into hitting their inbox and ask them what next to do so they scam them.

Reddit are for beginners and newbies that has no knowledge about anything crypto. In fact, any crypto related sub board on reddit are solely for scammers out there, they may be acting like coinbase fanboys as you said but they are not.
