Hero of Good: LoyceV, theymos
The forum is the place we know it because of those two guys here. Thanks for what you are doing, even if we often take it for granted, we should thank you every day.
Theymos is the "invisible hand" behind the forum. Guiding it in the long run, slowly steering to preserve the long term benefit of the community, taking strategic decisions on a very long-term horizon (Mixers, epochtalk).
LoyceV is spreading knowledge on the forum. Not only Technical knlowledge, but also metrics about the deeper functioning of the community (trust). Also spreading wisdom and dry humour. Which is good.
Forum Ninja: PowerGlove, TryNinja
They are making the forum a better place for everyone.
Powerglove evolved the obsolete technical format of the forum into something completely new. We don't need a fancy graphic. We need reliability and groundness. This is a bitcoin forum, after all!
Tryninja was developed outside the forum, something I often use to analyse what is happening in the community. Also, not only is he fully devoted to improving his products, but also, like he has some spare time, he's always willing to help!
Bitcoin Geek: d5000, JayJuanGee
d5000 When you see his posts, you understand why this community is a notch above the others. He keeps going on with the legacy of old users and Ogs.
JayJuanGee: his infamous walls of text are an infinite source of wisdom about Bitcoin. You always learn something. He's a role model to me since I joined the forum many years ago. Also, he competed in the latest Pizza contest, with a good outcome!
Best Event: (end of) Epochtalk, April Fool's event, Bitcointalk pizza day contest
Epochtalk's decision was to put an end to an infinite saga here on the forum. Like I said: we are interested in the long term resilience of this community, that pass trough a tech platform, not in having a fancy graphic. Forums have their problems, but I suspect the graphic form of that is only a minor aspect of that format.
April Fool's Day is the craziest day on the forum. It's like the Super Bowl: a day you cannot miss here. The only day of total randomness.
The Bitcoin Pizza contest is my favourite: not only significant in the bitcoin history, but a contest where the bar was significantly raised over the years. Today, more than one creations are outstanding!
Best Project: BitList
It might not be an entirely new project, but the revamp of the old website with the addition of the API gave the possibility of a totally new insight into the forum. I like the new project, and the dashboards are incredible. Also, the project is evolving by the day.
Discovery of the Year: *Ace*
*Ace* was a new, shy user on the Italian board. He self-admittedly knew not a lot about bitcoin, and he approached it for the right reason: to learn. Then he started contributing on the coding side. He developed a couple of scripts for my personal use, then started putting his skills at the service of the community, making his contribution available to the whole forum. Definitely, the demonstration shows that there are many ways to contribute to this community.
Help Buster: GazetaBitcoin
How could we do without Gazeta? The silent, friendly monster of the forum? He's working under the radar to spread knowledge across the forum with AOBT, correcting every hidden typo or misspelling! A relentless, unstoppable grinding power. Something like the train in GTA.
Craft Master: Krogothmanhattan, TryNinja, icopress
They contribute to the forum with their relentless pursuit of projects.
Krogothmanhattan organises raffles on a continuous roll, putting his collection at the disposal for nw users, helping to spread the knowledge of "physical bitcoin" goods.
TryNinja provides the tech backbone to the community. I have spent hours on his websites. Literally.
icopress organises contests to keep the community alive and united! And believe me when I say that the hard part is not putting online a nice OP post or organising the gallery with 150 pizza pictures. The handling of the associated drama must be something we truly appreciate!
Local Hero: Plutosky, arulbero, babo
Those tho contributors on the Italian board often post elsewhere, even if the standing of their contribution would easily stand out in the international board. The knowledge of the bitcoin protocol by Plutosky, the analytical skill by arulbero and the passionate advocacy by babo should get more echo on the international boards. They decided not to post in English. Who am I to disagree?
Miss Bitcointalk: Foxpup
There is no second best. There is no need to articulate this answer.
