There is nothing wrong with selling your coins in times of need. In fact I feel that there should be a balance between Holding and selling and not obsessive holding. Because the people who are needing money will spend no matter what but those who are doing well with a stable fiat income can rather hold their bitcoins till dire need happens.
I even think selling is a must when the target has been reached. Or we need to sell it because of a urgent need or an emergency. Sure, we must have a good balance in investment, it is impossible to always keep holding. How we can determine the success in the investment if we never take profits, right? By the way, it is true that we all must expect to have fiats because we have spending in daily life. So, investors must have a target to convert the assets to be fiats someday.
But selling during an emergency or a sudden financial need is a liquidity decision, right? It's not the usual thing to do when investing. I mean, I'm not against during that situation because anyone can experience that unexpectedly. Actually, one of the rules when you invest is you have to keep an emergency fund, so you do not have to liquidate your investments.
In terms of having money, in fiat to be exact, which is needed for our daily expenses. Yes, we need cash to pay for our expenses, but the purpose of investment does not mean you should eventually convert it back to fiat or something like you think of doing someday. I mean, being an investor should have a separate pool for investment and your expenses. It's the same as aiming to have an appreciating asset that can grow for a long period of time.
