Honestly one of my mistake was that I didn't understand self-custody. When I first earned Bitcoin, I received it in a Coinbase account and I thought that was the only way to receive Bitcoin.  At that time I didn't know that there was a custody or a wallet where I can keep my own keys. But now what I see is that most newbies think of Bitcoin as a money making machine, that is, they think that if they buy Bitcoin today, it will give them a high return in the next few days. But when they see that the price of Bitcoin starts to decrease instead of increasing after buying, they panic and sell it, which gives them a bad impression about Bitcoin. I am talking about those who have absolutely zero knowledge about Bitcoin.

After you learned everything you want about Bitcoin, make sure that you don't rely on Bitcoin only, scatter your funds into any reliable investments available like lands and properties, real estate and co, even stocks like Gold and silver.

Even though Bitcoin is currently very big the future will always be a misery, something that I can't do is have one thing that I only rely on, what if that thing fails me in the future? It shouldn't have to Bitcoin faults.

Let's take a lot at that ColdCard victim who have worked all his life to plan a better future for his family, look how broken he was after what happened? That would be like starting over after many years have past.

In my opinion, newbies make mistakes because they don't know about Bitcoin. Many newbies get the wrong idea from social media campaigns or some other way that Bitcoin is a way to get rich overnight. So they buy with all their money and later sell out of fear when the price drops a little. Although I haven't made this mistake as a newbie. But I think many newbies make these mistakes and they can even get involved in shitcoins. Although the issue of security is certainly important, it's not a problem if a newbie doesn't know self-custody. The problem is not trying to learn. Because newbies can start with small amounts on exchanges even if they want to and continue learning at the same time.

Well currently I think newbies face a lot of misunderstanding of how the Bitcoin technology works. To me they have no flaws, and while we can all agree that the main focus is freedom from third parties, store of value, and long term growth, many still think it's an easy way to make profit, which it's not.​Still mistakes are made so you can learn from it, so a newbie making a mistake in this space isn't really a disadvantage, except they make it one. In most cases I see it as an advantage a more gradual awakening process to learn from because it's not everyone who is here had a guide. Most of us had to walk our own path and carve it out one way in this space just to get where we are.Well I can't say I am perfect, but I am yet to experience any of the risk of being an enthusiast. Still that doesn't change the fact that I often learn from others, do my own research as always, and stay vigilant. That's all......

I dont know if many people remember this but a few years back, there was a craze for vanity Bitcoin addresses. I used a service where I got a vanity BTC address with my name in it. I used the private key to import the address and continuously used it for a year. It had around 1000 dollars worth of Bitcoin.

One day, I woke up and found that the coins had been stolen. The service that provided the vanity addresses had access to all the addresses and stole all the coins from all the users.

So as a beginner, I would suggest everyone not to fall for this trap. Use only trusted, non-custodial wallets where you are the one holding the keys yourself. Dont use third party services that generate wallets or addresses for you as they may have access to your private keys. Dont make the mistake I made.

Newbies start making mistakes when they start investing. Many new investors make mistakes but do not realize it at first after months or even years may pass before they face losses after investing in their wrong mindset. Newbies actually make some common mistakes in investing like wanting to get rich quick, trying to trade, they may suffer losses in a short time and due to lack of proper fund management the investor may suffer losses even after starting the investment. I will say from my experience that even if an investor has been with bitcoin for a long time, he does not become completely skilled and does not create a position to invest correctly. Many people cannot mentally accept that the price of bitcoin changes in a short time. They can be seen making the same mistakes again. An investor in bitcoin has to be quite responsible from the beginning. Because it is normal for beginners to make mistakes but if they do not learn from the mistakes and keep making the same mistakes repeatedly , it can be dangerous.

The absolute biggest mistake? Discovering the 100x leverage button before you even know how to set up a hardware wallet. You will be surprised by how many people "own" bitcoin in a Coinbase account and don't understand the difficulty adjustment.

Just buy it, get it the hell off the exchange and then lose your seed phrase in a tragic boating accident like the rest of us.

As a newbie I decided to purchase some bitcoin on exchange, I thought, it is done now. I did not move it to wallet since it looked like too much work. For a couple weeks that was enough of wake up call for me to have withdrawal problems with then exchange. All was moved on the day that the withdrawal was opened.

Second was believing what they are saying, providing "help" to strangers in random group in Telegram. Until I did learn, these guys simply wait for new people to come. Lost little bit.

The number one piece of advice, read first, buy later. Much of the new people do the other way.

I agree with you. For new investors  it is more dangerous to not learn from mistakes than to make mistakes. It is not realistic for a new investor to know everything about the market at the beginning. But it is important to have an idea of  your goals, risk-taking ability and money management before starting to invest. The mentality of getting rich in a short time is one of the biggest problems for beginners. If someone thinks that they can make big profits in a short time by seeing that the price of Bitcoin can increase rapidly. Then he can easily take excessive risks. Due to FOMO  wrong decisions can arise such as buying at high prices, panicking when the market falls, or trying to make quick profits through short-term trading. Without sufficient experience and knowledge of risk management, trading can become more risky instead of investing. No matter how good a person understands about Bitcoin  if he invests money that he may need in a short time, even a small market decline can become a big problem for him. Therefore  investing after allocating money for daily or emergency needs and investing within your means, there is also relatively less stress in making decisions during market fluctuations. There is a difference between experience and learning. If someone buys in the same way on FOMO, panic sells, or takes excessive risks year after year, then the passage of time alone will not build their investment skills. Learning from how risk could have been reduced and what needs to be changed in the future is what creates real experience. Making mistakes is normal and almost inevitable for a new investor. But the real danger is making the same mistakes over and over again and  taking risks beyond your means  and not learning from market experience. If an investor maintains patience, proper fund management, realistic expectations  and a long-term mindset from the beginning  it is possible to invest much more responsibly  even amid Bitcoin's volatility.
