The notorious claim that "Bitcoin is dead" is incorrect in several respects. Bitcoin bears no resemblance to anything usually referred to as a dead coin. Not at all.
However, in one sense, this claim might also be correct...
Bitcoin is dead in the same sense as a Nobel Prize-winning poet. It is at the pinnacle of fame and can be a great source of inspiration. But it is not something to believe in or to bet on.
I feel there is a grain of truth in that claim.
I see your point, but I'd rather put it this way: while the dead creature of blind faith may be, after all, dead, in reality it is a rather good thing and no any death is implied. Now, its role in our financial landscape has shifted towards proving a concept rather than about some unreal myths we have attached to it.
However, there should be no requirement for any individual to believe in its powers as it'd be judged by the thought joke whether this independent thought is directed to a great poet, an exclusive rock band or a marvelous currency. Though so, it should not be confused with inspiration and dedication.
Perhps a better question to ask would be what role this myth has been playing in our financial system and what role in the times to come. Now, that's clearly not the end of the story.
