This is really weird, and the funny part is that there might be lots of people out there who have fallen victim to this, and yet don't know about such potential threat. While secondly, this is also another more reason why newbies needs to urgently avoid free tools online, most especially when its not coming from a trusted source on the internet (i.e Play Store, Apple and Microsoft ), likewise, a trading bots sold online with the claimed to have a strategy that can make you rich or make you a decent amount over time. Because these hackers knows that people looking for free tools are always the most vulnerable to be hacked, since they are always eager to do anything, which can indirectly cost you losing far more for those who own crypto on their devices.

No one will know you own some Bitcoin if you don't announce it yourself in one way or the other.

There are other ways to compromise your basic privacy too, but I feel like most people attract all these attentions by themselves, thereby making it easier for any criminal to find  a right target.

It's  related to promotion, and yes people can fall for it but what exactly do you think will happen when you just use a random script, or download and install a random tool online  .

I saw the thread where you tried warning people about this trading bot on the beginners & help board, but I came back to comment on it and couldn’t find it, I never knew it was deleted until now.  I know the moderator is trying hard to keep the board clean from spam and other unwanted content, but information like this shouldn’t be deleted unless it’s a duplicate.  Op, thanks for this information and I’m glad you brought it to our attention, especially since I’m a fan of free trading tools. I will be more careful with free trading tools, so I don’t fall victim to a scam like this.

It is true that an open source hardware wallet is better than a hot wallet, but some people do not even want to deal with hardware wallet manufacturers anymore and they create their own cold storage setup. An electrum wallet on an airgapped computer is as safe as a hardware wallet and even better because you don't have to worry about your shipping details being leaked or supply chain attacks.

However, i must add that this setup is only for those who know exactly what they are doing, if you do this in an unsafe environment, chances are high that you'd lock yourself out of your funds.

With all the attacks and incidents happening around the industry, people need to understand that they are not supposed to use devices where they keep their wallets and financial apps to use tools and other stuff even if they believe that the tools come from trusted sources. Why take the risk anyway? Just have a separate device for such activities, if you are a trader and you require to use a lot of online platforms or even tools and extensions for your activities, you should make sure you are not doing all these things in the same device that you use to store your cryptocurrencies or where you keep your funds.

The same thing should be done for mobile devices as well and not only computers. A lot of people use their mobile devices for wallets and other financial apps, and then they use the same devices for gaming, using apps and tools, surfing the internet or social media, and then they complain why they got attacked or their wallets and financial apps got compromised, because attackers are now becoming smarter, and they don't need you to do a lot, all you need to do is install something that contains their malware, and that's it.

I think it's time people start embracing only self custody storage and also take the use of multisignature very seriously, in times like this, using multisignature set-up becomes a necessity for every bitcoiner, if the different signing keys are well secured in different devices, it becomes a bit difficult for scammers to easily steal investors coins. I have said it before in one thread I created after coldcard vulnerability, if we set up extra security like multisig and pass phrase in our self custody wallets, it prevent easy access for hackers, no?

We have to expect crypto hackers to get more each day.  The growing popularity and adoption of cryptocurrency will greatly attract the attention of bad people since they have lots of places to exchange the stolen cryptocurrency.

We also read that there are lots of cases of cryptohack, from $5 wrench attacks to sophisticated malware injections, just to steal the victims' cryptocurrency.  So it is a wise thing to be more careful when browsing the internet or sharing things on social media, especially finances.  Wicked people will do everything they can just to successfully steal unsuspecting victims' cryptocurrency.

Crypto attacks are everywhere, and those who fall as a victim are those who who know nothing about crypto but only rush to enter the market believing that it can make them instant rich in less time, that is the biggest scheme here.

However, the only way to get rid of crypto attacks is to never trust any script or trading bot especially if it offers too good to be true. Every script that aims to scam or steal your bitcoin will always have a red flag, you just have to go dig on it and totally avoid it to ensure long term security of your bitcoin.

This isn't on AI but on those scam sites that are set to scam people and steal their bitcoin. So here's the solution, don't trust random trading bots easily but always take time to research and create genuine analysis to avoid falling on the trap. Because once you install it without prior research, its like you allow yourself to get scam and lost all your bitcoin in just a blink of an eye.

Stick with those famous and reputable ones, and double check if you are installing the legit one, not the fake bot as it will easily wipe out your bitcoin in no time.

As always reminded, it's not good to store funds in web and desktop wallets. But since it's not entirely avoidable to some, it's best to keep small amounts. The inconvenience, the hassle, of refilling those wallets every once in a while is a small price to pay for safety.

Also, it's imperative to those who are keeping funds in such hot wallets to be double cautious when dealing with anything online. Surely, it's not wise to chase anything free from where you also keep your funds. That's courting risks.
