The scammers are indeed smart. Not only did they create a malicious crypto tracking app, they also paid influencers to advertise the app to their communities. The members who downloaded the app believed they were being rewarded for completing small tasks. However, in reality, they were also losing their funds to the hacker. This is absolutely crazy.
According to SlowMist, the hacker was able to steal about $500k worth of crypto before the app was reported.
And probably the name itself is already a catch, "Slow" we all know what it means and "Mist", water droplets specially in the morning. So that's why they drain the wallet of their victims, in a slow manner and little by it.
But then after you sum up everything, it's going to be worth $500k of easy money for this criminals.
I do hope that it will set a precedence again not to download this kind of app that monitors huge Bitcoin addresses.
