True adoption should be measured by whether people actually find Bitcoin useful, and not whether everyone is actually using it. No matter how much potential a technology has, different people would always have different reasons for opting to use that technology, but those who are really helping the technology are those who know its true value and worth and actually appreciate it. Some may value bitcoin as a method of payment, while there are those who prefer it to be for long term investment and store of value. No matter what, people should always be free to choose for themselves what role it should play in their lives, and thats basically where true conviction stems from.
You're right but everyone is free to use Bitcoin for whatever usecase that suits them, if people are forced to use Bitcoin for a particular purposes that doesn't suit their ideology of adopting it then they might end up seeing it as not useful since it doesn't serve the purpose they need it for.
Anyone has the right to adopt Bitcoin for whatever purpose and with time they could end up liking other features, for instance a trader who initially used Bitcoin for short term gains willing switching to long term holding and investment purpose after a while.
