Wow, how time flies, so it's sixteen years already since that famous pizza purchase?

It's actually possible to buy pizza with Bitcoin in my region and have it delivered to your doorstep but....

I've not been able to get via Bitcoin payment because of the complicated walkarounds and the extra transaction fees. I usually use P2P to covert to local currency and seamlessly buy pizza even when there's Bitcoin payment method.

I've never bought pizza using BTC before but maybe for the fun of it or probably for the records, I'll be doing that anytime from now.

Laszlo Hanyecz through that pizza buy in 2010 succeeded in making pizza a memorable part of Bitcoin history even when it wasn't his primary idea. In my locality, there's no pizza vendor that allows customers to pay with Bitcoin, at least to the best if my knowledge. I believe that one day, we'll get to a point we can easily order pizza with Bitcoin just like they do it with ease using cash and bank cards today.

I have not seen any pizzeria that accept Bitcoin for payment yet. It's kind of rare in my country. Even restaurants don't accept such payments for service.

But it would have been worth the trial. Since Laszlo's purchase I'm sure there would have been many other pizza purchases that didn't make the news too.


Adoption and volatility are still issues with Bitcoin.

People are more willing to offer users payment for such services to Bitcoin because of it's stable nature. Regulations only play a little role in some countries where cryptocurrency is not restricted.

I've bought a few pizzas for Bitcoin over the years.  I feel like it used to be much easier about 10 years ago but I can't remember the service that I used to use to order Dominos.  I think at some point I just started using gift cards because it was easier.  Now there are lots of options to get gift cards to buy stuff from pretty much anywhere, but I am not sure if there's any place that directly lets you spend BTC for pizza anymore.  That sort of niche service I think went out of business during the block wars.

Forget about big commercial pizzerias here, they are so preoccupied with government tax and fiat currency that crypto is alien to them.

To my knowledge or local search I can't find any pizzerias big or small that sell pizza directly in bitcoin catalog. If any remain, they are so hidden that finding them is as difficult as peeling an onion. So there is no pizzeria name in my mouth to do free advertising!

Buying pizza with Bitcoin is now very easy. Because the adoption of Bitcoin has increased a lot all over the world, so if the owner of the pizza shop knows about Bitcoin, then he will take Bitcoin as payment and give the pizza. But in my country, it is still not an easy matter. Because Bitcoin is still illegal in my country, no shopkeeper can openly offer anyone to pay through Bitcoin. However, the people of my country are very familiar with Bitcoin, so if the pizza shopkeeper is secretly offered Bitcoin as payment, I don't think he will refuse. But to be honest, I have not tried this yet. Because since it has not been legalized in my country yet, discussing this issue publicly may not be good.

I guess this thread is as a result of the statement which @stompix made when he claimed Lazlo didn't buy the 2 pizza with Bitcoin, but rather the bitcoin was sent to Jeremy who later bought it with credit card in 2010. And to be honestly speaking, I too was very surprised hearing the exact true story behind the Bitcoin Pizza trade which took place in 2010. And fast forward to today, I can still confidently say that I haven't seen any Pizza shop who officially states that they accept Bitcoin or crypto in general as it's official means of payment. But still that doesn't mean if you walk into such pizza shops, tha you won't see one or two workers in that place that might accept the payment in Bitcoin and they buy immediately with their personal credit cards for you. And if any of my  Nigerian brothers could figure out any of such pizza shop in Nigeria, I wouldn't mind giving it a try. I will be waiting...!!

Honestly, buying pizza with bitcoin can be a trend observed once in a while probably a reminder about past story concerning the famous purchase of pizza using bitcoin by Laszlo.
I know someone who’s into crypto trading and knows about bitcoin, he own a fast food pizza and ice cream restaurant. Funny enough bitcoin is not part of payment method, I realized majority of bitcoin enthusiast are willing to purchase using bitcoin as a payment method meanwhile the ones In charge of the business don’t consider bitcoin as part of a normal payment method probably due to volatile market condition, if I ever come across a pizza spot accepting bitcoin definitely I don’t mind paying with bitcoin.

 It will not be difficult but I just feel that most businesses in my country, especially those selling pizza will only accept Bitcoin as payment once they see it's something that most of their competitors are making use of. Nothing inspires or moves people like knowing that there's a competition.
