I ended up being bored half the time I saw One Piece. While I think that it is funny and the combat sequences are great, it seems to me that they waste a lot of time with character specific episodes, that end up not really adding a lot (or in most cases, anything) to the global storyline, or sometimes even the episodes they are in. If they removed, or at least drastically reduced their number, they could easily halve the total episode count, which would leave an action packed anime, with a lot of humor, and an interesting storyline with interesting characters to boot.

Either a girl lying on her back with legs open wide, or considering your description of the anime, some kind of insect (a grasshopper or some such).

It would be easier to make a recommendation if you share what you're into: sci-fi, comedy, historical, etc. Otherwise, even if people recommend something great, the type of which you don't like, you're not going to enjoy it.
