ok after 4th crash, I opened up the case and saw shitload of dust on the cpu fan...
so blew off the dust and put up my box fan on it.
hopefully this will solve the problem.
how big is the block reward? it says 50 on OP but it say 1000 when you type getmininginfo in consol?

And on both old and new computers it will use 100% - that's just what threading does.
If you want to use less CPU, try manually setting which cores it's allowed to use (task manager, processes/details, right-click, Set affinity), or see:

This is the initial stages of PoW, that is why it is very intensive. After this stage, PoB will take over where mining will be much less intensive.
The block reward for PoW is max 50 coins.
