Yes, it does rise over a year or two years not <6 months like you are probably hoping for.
Look to the $2 > $10 price rise, a 500% increase that took about 2 years to occur. Then it rapidly folded another 500% to $50 within another 6 months.
Still a lot better than stocks.

A steady adoption could increase bitcoin price overtime but not one jump. Too much increase could make the price too unstable.

Exactly. It's not neccesarily 'big news' we need, but more adoption we need which will then push the price up rapdily due to supply and demmand.

It will over time. Soon most of the coins are going to be mined and rewards halved, that's when bitcoin will rise like crazy, in my opinion.

I think these small peaks and troughs will be peanuts compared to what bitcoin could potentially be worth in the near future so I wouldn't sweat it. I'm sure we'll see a nice jump with some
real
big news very soon.

I don't think it suddenly spikes without some big news but it gradually crawls up (or down) without any.

Bigger news help a lot obviously but it doesn't drive the price down or up all the time in fact we have had some major news recently with some retailers accepting Bitcoin but the price has been driven down.

In my opinion answer is yes but this rise will not be high if some ''big'' players don't accept Bitcoin.
Bitcoin will become mainstream and globally accepted when people will be able to pay for many different services and products on internet by their Bitcoin funds.
Until then, bitcoin will remain popular mostly for investors only and this will affect price a lot.
