I am participating in PoM with:

1. Dell Poweredge C6100 server I got from eBay with 4 nodes and two 4 core Intel Xeon L5420 CPUs per node.  Hash rate per node=~70 Kh/s

2. Dell Poweredge C6105 server (eBay) with 3 Nodes, and two 6 core AMD Opteron 2419EE (North Bridge) variety. Hash rate per node=~77Kh/s

Current hash rate on nonce-pool for these two servers combined is 556.61 KH/s.

One server draws at max load about 450 watts for 4 nodes.  For 3 nodes it will be less than 450 watts.

Counter-intuitively, the AMD Opteron CPU is cheaper but hashes quicker on M7M algo.
The more expensive Xeon CPU will hash quicker on cryptonight algorithm than the Opteron CPU (as expected).

*** JoeLao the 3-node Dell Poweredge C6105 is dirt cheap looks junky on the outside (refurbished of course) but it works good, if you need a spare development server.

Is this required for Windows 64 bit? Assuming it is then I will get on it right now. This processor does not support AVX instruction set so it is at a disadvantage straight away unfortunately. Well that only took a few minutes and produced code that was identical to my previously-published generic version, so support for earlier processors is already built-in. It appears to me that the Cygwin compiler (in the way I have it set up) always produces code that will run on any x86_64 cpu from the source code provided. If you are already using my generic version from:-

Note also that MarcusDe has a collection of cpu-specific miners here:-

From my testing, MarcusDe' version for the Intel Haswell class of processors has the edge on speed (about 4% faster) over my generic version and does not seem to have the same problems with handling multiple threads, so does not require any special startup.
I would suggest trying out different versions of minerd to see which one(s) work best for you, or maybe have a go at compiling your own using the instructions provided here:-

On another note, I have been having a play around with the latest version of GCC (just released) in Cygwin and it produces 64 bit minerd code that is a little bit smaller in size but runs at exactly the same speeds as before. I will be creating a software bundle to incorporate this newer version and more comprehensive tuning instructions in due course - it will be available on the same link. I will not be working on the 32 bit version any further unless somebody reports problems with it.
